Shigure woke with a start, bolting upright.
There was no need for him to wake in such a way; there wasn't a sound to be heard in his house on the Sohma estate, nor had he been dreaming. He glanced over at his digital alarm clock. The bright blue numbers told him that it was just past two in the morning.
What on earth had caused him to wake up so suddenly? Shigure shook his head and ran his finger's through his hair. This made no sense…
Then he heard it; footsteps just outside the sliding door to his room. He tensed; who was there? A burglar?
The door to his room slid slowly open; Shigure looked at his beside table, in hopes to find some sort of weapon if the case would be that it was a burglar, but nothing was there. He looked back at his door, which was now fully open, and let out a sigh of relief, seeing who was standing there.
"Shigure," Akito whispered, remaining in the doorway. She was half hiding behind the door, which was very unlike her.
"What is it, Akito?" He stepped out of bed and walked over to her, and crouched down so that he was at her level.
"I had a bad dream," the twelve year old replied, and rubbed her eyes in a sleepy sort of way.
Shigure smirked, and said, "You came all the way here in the middle of the night just to tell me that?"
"No," she said, snapping a little, pouting. "I want- I want to sleep with you, Shigure."
It was almost cute how she still acted like a child in these situations. He smiled again. "Of course, Akito. Let's get into bed then, since it's very late, hm?"
She nodded and led the way to his bed, burrowing under the blankets before he could get into bed. He slid in beside her, and she settled in against him.
"What was your bad dream about, Akito?"
"Us," she replied, her head resting on his chest.
"You and I?"
"No, all of us." Ah, all of the zodiac.
"What about us?"
She snuggled in closer, placing her hand on his stomach, her fingers curled into a fist, holding his shirt. "You all left me. All of you…. I was left alone and no one came back…." Her voice was shaking slightly, giving away just how much the dream was upsetting her.
Shigure rubbed her side in what he hoped was a comforting sort of way, and felt the small, but very distinct, curve of a hip that was beginning to form. He vaguely wondered how she would cover up the womanly figure she would undoubtedly gain during puberty.
"Don't worry," he whispered in her ear, pulling her tighter to him and kissed the top of her head. "That'll never happen."
Sorry I haven't been writing as much lately. I'm going to try and pick up the pace with my fics and get as many as I can uploaded as soon as possible.
This is a bit short, I know, but it's just to get me back in the groove of things, to help me start writing again.
Hope you enjoyed it!
Please leave some constructive criticisms.
