Hi! I know, I know, you want me to update. I will… tomorrow. This is a one shot song fic. It has been butting me in the head for a while so I had to release it. I hope you like my first InuxKag! And as always: I don't own Inuyasha and I don't profit from writing this. I just do it cuz, well, I wanna! Nor do I own the song within, that belongs to some very talented people. -AJ

Desperado

It was another average night for the gang on the road. Already fed, and getting ready for bed, Inuyasha- of course- in his customary tree, everything was just normal. Kagome got into her sleeping bag, and gazed up at the stars. She knew what was coming tonight. She could feel how close the rest of her soul was. She knew soon they would see her soul collectors when she called Inuyasha to her. She looked at him through her eye lashes. He was gazing up at the waning moon.

Desperado
Why don't you come to your senses?
You been out riding fences
For so long now.
Oh, you're a hard one
And I know that you've got your reasons,
These things that are pleasing you
Can hurt you somehow.

'Oh Inuyasha, why do you let her continue to hurt you?' Kagome thought as she looked up at her beloved hanyou. Her heart bled for him, and she was sure he would never see it. She loved him, and as much as it hurt her being second, she wanted him to be happy. She just wanted him to be happy. 'Just be careful who you chose.'

Don't you draw the queen of diamonds boy,
She'll beat you if she's able.
You know the queen of heart is always your best bet.

One of Kikyou's soul collectors flitted through the trees. Inuyasha looked down on the futuristic miko knowing she wasn't asleep. His heart was torn. He knew how much it hurt her when he left, but he had a debt to Kikyou. He knew he would have to choose soon- he knew how both mikos felt for him. But he didn't want to hurt either.

Now it seems to me some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones
You can't get,
Desperado
Oh, you ain't getting no younger
Your pain and your hunger
They're driving you home,

The soul collector had left in his moment of thought, and now another two were flitting about. Kikyou really wanted to see him. He wondered how it had gotten so twisted. He wondered how his heart had gotten so tangled. He wasn't sure what way to go anymore; he just knew he didn't want to end up alone again.

And Freedom?
Oh, Freedom.
Well that's just some people talking.
Your prison is walking through this world all alone.

He leapt from his tree with a silent sorry to Kagome, and followed the eel demon. He came upon Kikyou quickly, and hugged her as always. He ignored her scent and tried to remember the one from when she was alive- from when he had loved her.

Don't feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day.
You're losing all you're highs and lows,
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?

Kagome rose and went to the edge of camp to wait. She didn't chase after him anymore; she knew better. She watched the trees for any sign of him and prayed. Secretly she always wondered if he would come back, or if he would go to hell with his first love. 'Just give me one more day.' She chanted her customary mantra while she waited. 'Just one more day."

Desperado
Why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences
Oh you can
It may be raining
But there a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you
(let somebody love you)
Oh, you better let somebody love you
Before it's too late
