EDI didn't bother to warn Shepard as a visitor walked into her courters. EDI had the physiological guess that Adam needed someone, unwanted or not. She liked seeing humans on their knees, not crying while doing it. EDI monotonously laughed at her own joke.
Joker slowly stepped in and stared sympathetically at Adam. Her hair was tied back in a messy bun, long trails of gold running down her back. Pale skin looking sickly, not porcelain and pretty. Blue eyes tired and closed, though awake. She slept in the same jacket she worn since they had gotten back from Horizon.
That night...it meant everything to me. I don't know if it meant as much for you.
"Commander? Everyone is worried." Joker murmered. Adam opened her eyes and stared at him , not really seeing anything.
"Nobody wins when everyone is losing, Joker. I suppose everyone was winning and I was left behind after that attack." Adam took a swig of ice brandy from a large bottle. Joker winced and walked closer to her bed. He realized that under her open jacket she wore lace underwear.
"Don't talk like that Commander." Joker said softly and she looked at him, sadness in her eyes.
"I was about to say 'Aren't we past titles?', but I've said that once and the outcome sucked ass." Adam chuckled darkly and took another swig. Joker rushed forward, against the screaming of his sore shoulder, and slapped the bottle from her hands. Her eyes watered up and she threw her arms around the pilot, sobbing.
"I'm so so sorry!" She cried and Joker slowly slid his arms into her hug, letting her cry into his chest.
A lot has changed in the past few years.
Adam nodded to herself. It was going to change more.
Too much has changed Kaidan... Her mind whispered and out of the ordinary came a soft I know, Shepard. Too much has.
Joker smiled down at her as she lifted her head and looked into his eyes. And he didn't moved when she planted a soft kiss on Joker's lips.
