Rain drops splatter on the windowpane

Rain drops splatter on the windowpane, that's how a normal story starts…
Only problem is that Rose Tyler's story isn't normal and this isn't where her story starts. That's how she used to start them at school, but no more…
This is where her story ends.
Wake up, go to work, go home, eat chips, watch telly and go to bed. That was Rose Tyler's life. Well ok, she occasionally had the odd Friday night with Shareen and some of the girls from work, but it was always the same old pubs and clubs and meeting what might as well have been the same old blokes, with the same mindless, sleazy chat up lines. They all were the opposite of what Rose was looking for. These guys were the evil wizards, or at least some ugly ogres… just obstacles along the treacherous woods the handsome knight must fight on his way to get to his lady love.
It wasn't that Rose didn't love Mickey. Oh, she did. Of course she did. Who wouldn't love a bloke, who would (with some persuading, of course) take you to watch a chick flick at the cinema and buy you popcorn? Although he did spend the whole of "13 going on 30" trying to shove his tongue down Rose's throat… but how could you not love the guy, who saved you all the red wine gums because he knew you liked them? The understanding bloke, who, after being treated like dirt during the whole "Jimmy Stones" thing, still took you back and pretended to have forgiven you, even though you know he never really will?
But in Rose Tyler's mind Mickey Smith was never, and could never be, the Knight she wanted. He was always the sidekick or at least the on-again, off-again boyfriend, who never really understood her need to go to a different pub sometimes, rather than 'the local' right across the street. He tried to be what she needed, but Mickey Smith was never going to be that in Rose Tyler's eyes. Sure, he was the guy she was going to eventually move in with, marry, have kids with, go to Briton with on bank holidays and grow old with. However, he would never come to be her Knight in shinning armour.
It wasn't that Rose wanted to be a Princess. She certainly didn't want a Prince. What she wanted was a Knight, a Hero, a Saviour, a Lover, a Friend… Rose Tyler wanted the man she had just, unwillingly, said goodbye to.
Rose Tyler wanted the Doctor… Which was "quite right too", as he was the only one, who seemed capable to make it all better. To save her from the terrible, nothingness.
Her life started the moment she met him… Strange for such a beautiful thing to happen in such a boring place. Work I mean, in a shop basement. Katie, from up at the 1st floor, who works at the makeup counter, supposedly saw the manager and Jess, from the food counter, making out down there. That was the most exciting thing that's ever happened to that basement! Well, it was at the time. Now it's second to the Doctor. Everything is second to the Doctor, and everyone.
Rain splatters on the windowpane, as they drive away from Bad Wolf Bay. And Rose Tyler knows she's died. Mickey has gotten a girlfriend, who isn't just a sad attempt at making her jealous. Mums got Dad and Dads got Mum. Hey, the bump's lucky it's got two people. Everyone has someone…
Rose has just said goodbye to her someone. Now she feels all alone. She hasn't got anyone anymore. Sure, there are four other people in this car with her, but she's still alone. Isolated and broken…
And the rain, splattering on the windowpane, is just another reminder. Of how lonely she is, of how wrong things are right now. That's how she knows it's the end. Because now, she realises it's all her fault… She started at the wrong place, after all.
This is where rain splatters on the windowpane, at the end.
