Prompt #256 (Song) Girls and Boys – Good Charlotte

"So whom do you prefer Veronica, boys or girls?" Betty carefreely asked as she gently banged out a beat against the wall with her feet.

Veronica's feet stopped dead at the question. Her head turned to look at the side of the blonde's head resting right next to her.

"Or perhaps the question should be girls or boys? After all this is woman power world society now instead of man power. So girls should be ahead of boys for that question now a days." Betty's brow furrowed as she worked out that one out loud.

"Okay can we not have this conversion like this?" Veronica's voice spoke out. She sighed as she sat up, and crossed her legs.

Betty tapped her feet against the wall. "I want to have this conversion like this." She turned her neck to look up at Veronica. "It doesn't have to be a heavy conversion Veronica; I all ready know that you are bi-sexual." Her right eye brow rose. "Just relax and answer my question as we contiune to beat tune out with our feet against your bedroom wall."

Veronica sighed deeply. "No B." She simply stated.

Betty sighed as she frowned up at her best friend's still face. She rolled over and sat up herself. She stood from the bed. "I forgot that I need to do a few things before the day is out." She walked towards the chair where her bag was.

"Betty!" Veronica exclaimed.

Betty picked up her bag and slung it around her back to her other shoulder. She turned and smiled thinly at her friend; "Like I said Veronica; I don't need this conversion to be so heavy. Whenever you feel you are ready to have this conversion with me in a light manner then you know I'll be ready to listen." She turned towards the door.

"So that's it. You are just leaving." Veronica got off the bed, and followed after the blonde.

Betty nodded. "Yeah I'm leaving." She stopped. Turning to face the other girl. "I want to be carefree and light right now Ronnie. But it feels like you can't handle that right now."

"We can still be carefree and light Betty, just we need another topic is all." Veronica reached up to touch the slightly taller blonder's arm.

Betty shook her head. "The mood is too serious. I don't want to be here any longer."

"Then let's get out of here." Veronica nodded.

"I don't want to be with you right now." Betty backed away causing the other girl's hand to leave her arm,

"Don't do this B." Veronica pleaded. "Please."

Betty's eyes harden slightly. "This is why I don't want to be here right now Veronica." She growled. "Every time I try to turn something into a light hearted moment … and you deem that it should be a serious moment … then all the lightness that I'm feeling is gone due to the heavniess." She shook her head. "I have so much heavniess in me that when I feel light … then I want to hold onto it for as long as I can."

Veronica couldn't speak.

Betty breathed. "Don't worry Veroncia. I'll be okay. I'm just going to bring that lightness back out for the day." She looked deeply into Veronica's concern eyes. "I'll call you later okay."

Veronica silently nodded.

Betty turned and left the room.

Veronica took a step forward; but then she stopped. She couldn't follow after Betty. Betty needed to be away from her right now. She had to prove to Betty that she was still trustworthy, and safe for her.
