CHAPTER 1: THERE IS ONLY ONE SONIC
A Darkened blue-blur raced down the nearly abandoned streets of Station Square which now resembeled a ghost town devoid of any life. The blur quickly skidded to an halt before a clang was heard from its mettalic shoe crunching a large rock, from a faraway distance, this character appeared to be the renoun hero of the Earth, Sonic the Hedgehog.
However at a much closer look, "Sonic" looked different, the figure was made entirely out of metal with an indigo plating and industrial grey across it's face and arms, the figure also had a gaping hole in the front of it's chest with an yellow plated "O" ring around it chassis. It's Demon red iries glowed as it dimly lit up the nightly sky.
This was one of Sonic's greatest arch-enemeies and Dr Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik's greatest creations.
"Hyper" Metal Sonic, Sonic's robotic sentient doppleganger in skill, power and most importantly...speed
Metal Sonic stood still and let all of his sensors take in his surroundings, he looked at all the destruction he had looked at all the destruction he had helped create with his creator and master, Dr. Eggman weeks ago.
The doppleganger of Sonic proceeded to take a few steps forward and mettalic clangs were heard as the rocks and other debree were crushed underneath his feet.
-Incoming Transmission from Dr. Robotnik-
"Metal Sonic!", rang 's voice from inside the robotic duplicate's head, "Where are you?, Status report."
Metal Sonic ceased all movement for a few brief seconds, Metal Sonic then responded by increasingly the power of his GPS monotonely with a hint of annoyance although his creator couldn't see it, Eggman was aware that he possessed sentince and the ability to think and act for himself like how he attempted to rebel against him but was stopped by the combined efforts of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Ever since then, Eggman worked hours to design additional coding to prevent Metal Sonic from rebelling against him a second time.
"Your organic template is at my Fortress in the White Jungle and is wrecking my defenses, intercept and stop him.", the scientist commanded to his creation making his robotic mind temporary wonder to other things."
-Transmission end-
Priority number 1; Eliminate Sonic The Hedgehog, flashed on Metal Sonic's HUD before he clenched his mettalic fist together and stared into it, The Mechanical Hedgehog duplicate turned around before a soft but audible humming sound was heard from his chest cavity.
"Intercepting now.", the copy replied in a digitized message.
Metal Sonic took off into the air before blasting off at hypersonic speeds towards his creators new base of operations, he would not miss his chance to destroy Sonic and become Sonic, become greater than Sonic ever was and do things that even Sonic wasn't willing to do.
You could say it was an obession, but really could you blame Metal Sonic for being modeled in extreme accurancy after Sonic?
This was more than a simple "Obssesion", Hyper Metal Sonic wishes to outperform Sonic in every way and he is willing to do anything to acclomplish his mission, even if it meant planning to steal a Phantom Runy prototype after the Infinite incident.
"My Loathsome Copy...", The Robotic Hedgehog's limited sentience processed through his artificial mind as rocketed through the air, he then began to take in his surroundings: Burned bridges, collasped buildings, scorched terrain, Metal Sonic let the information become ingrained in processor. He never told Eggman this but he is sure that he knows all ready, Eggman knows that he had developed a hatred for Sonic more than a simple could machine could.
A simple machine could only follow basic instructions, and Metal Sonic was more than just a simple machine, a simple machine does not feel emotion to hate something and become obssessed about it, a simple machine just follows orders.
A simple machine does not have feel emotions, it does not have sentinence, Metal Sonic had developed both years ago that was supressed by his creators programming after the "Heroes" Incident. Metal Sonic looked down at the collasped bridges, the wrecked buildings and the scorched Earth beneath him.
He liked it, maybe he could go far enough to say that he loved it if he still contained his voice module.
He liked it because Sonic couldn't do enough to save them, he wasnt fast enough, he wasnt strong enough, he wasnt cunning enough. He liked it because if they somehow switched places Metal Sonic himself would do a better job, to be a better Sonic than Sonic himself.
"Your too slow", quipped Sonic's voice in his head as he started wiping his titanium ring finger under his pointed nose while glaring down at the war torn land below him.
"It's truly...saddening how Robotnik didn't give the Phantom Ruby to me instead of, Infinite!", the copy-cat sneered before putting on a extra burst of speed, Infinite devasted the hedgehog when they first met and Shadow did the same.
How could they accomplish such feat? Metal Sonic was made to be a direct copy of Sonic but better in every way, Speed, Precision, Power, Stamina, and everything but Sonic bested him even when the odds were against him, and he was only 15 when they had their first encounter on little planet.
Metal Sonic started to remember that ironically moving faster than Sonic is what got him almost completly destroyed in the first place, Metal Sonic remebered pushing past Mach 5 with his "V Maximum Overdrive" attack and caused his jet-based propulsion system to overheat, causing parts of his lower half to melt down and the rest of his body being incinerated by his own creators weapon.
The Robotic clone of Sonic was interrupted from his thoughts when he got a Heads Up Display alert from the server inside of Eggmans fortress, Metal Sonic then cut off the power to his propulsion system before landing on the ground with loud clank.
He took a few more steps until two circular cylinders popped up from the ground to reveal a large vulcan cannon and another mysterious device, Metal stood still as the mysterious device sent a ray of red light up and down his chassis until the scanner and the machine gun retreated below the surface.
"Welcome Hyper Metal Sonic.", the AI greeted him before opening a pair of rusted blast doors covered by vines creaked opened.
The entire area was dark amd all that was seen was the illuminious lights of Metal Sonic's optics as he traversed down the halls.
"This Will be our final encounter Sonic, I will guarantee that, one of us has to expire, There can only be one true Sonic."
Soon the flood light in the facility turned on where Metal Sonic glanced at a blue blur currently destroying the dozens of Egg Pawns and other security forces under Dr. Robotnik, The blur came to a halt to reveal Sonic the Hedgehog adjusting his gloves with a smug look on his face while listening, Sonic was getting ready to speed off into the next area inside of the facory until he heard a loud mettalic stomp in the concrete causing him to turn around.
"Metal Sonic!", The Hedgehog yelled with a surprised look on his face before taking a stance and grinning. "Last time we fought didn't I challenge you to a friendly race and ya still lost afterfailing destroying the world!?"
Angered, the robotic doppleganger took his own stance, if looks could kill he would be saying "dont remind me", but Sonic understood clear and simple, after Metal Sonic was rebuilt once more, Dr. Robotnik went even deeper into copying Sonic's Anatomy including having a mental template of Sonic's behavior and quirks, ever since then the two could almost read eachovers minds and predict their moves.
"So", Sonic spoke "This world isn't big enough for the both of us and one of us has to go?"
Metal Sonic then nodded his head up and down slowly.
"Well, I agree!", Sonic responded.
"Go get him, my "Hyper" Metal Sonic!", Dr. Eggman's voice ranged and his mind and Metal Sonic sensed his body going on auto-pilot.
Sonic was the first to charge as he took off at the speed of sound, Metal Sonic followed and did the same quickly jump starting his propulsion system and they both took off towards one another.
"Let's do this!", Sonic yelled while triumphantly jumping into the air, Metal Sonic did the same as they crossed eachover in the air. [Song Start-Stardust Speedway Bad Future, JPN)
Metal Sonic and his organic template charged at each over at rivaled speeds, Sonic jumped into the air and spin jumped into the air causing the robotic doppelganger to do the same. Metal Sonic came out of his own spin jump before slamming both of his arms upon Sonic's naturally protected hide, the force caused Sonic to come out of the Spin-Attack and almost slam into the ground but the Hedgehog used his agility and landed on his feet.
Sonic then began rubbing his head before flashing a smug grin. "Nice one.", the hedgehog said while wagging his finger in the air. Metal Sonic hovered in the air before glaring down at his organic counterpart with a menacing look that could kill him many times over.
Metal Sonic then charged at Sonic again, which he dodged with his heightened senses but Metal Sonic was momentarily quicker and caught Sonic's left leg before flinging him towards the wall and sending him crashing into it.
The Blue Blur however, soon rebounded from the wall before performing a aerial side kick to Metal Sonic's chassis, knocking him out of the air and into the ground, after a split second, Metal Sonic flipped himself back over before zooming to the side and trying to slash Sonic which he dodged.
Sonic wall jumped to the side before speeding down a darkened hallway, Metal Sonic then hovered in the air for a brief second before his propulsion system kicked in and he was sent flying down the darkened hallway after his organic counterpart.
To Metal Sonic it all made since why Sonic would just run away from a fight, he was scared of his fate of finally losing his first and only last battle against Metal Sonic.
"Dread from it, run from it, destiny arrives all the same." , He processed to himself while increasing his speed even further in his chase against Sonic.
Eventually his sensors picked up the Blue Blur a few hundred feet ahead of himself, Sonic turned around before smiling and putting on more speed in his facade against his android copy, Metal Sonic did the same and now the two were once again at rivaled speeds.
Sonic looked to his right to see his opposite before flashing Metal Sonic his trademark grin, annoyed Metal began throwing a flurry of punches at super speeds which Sonic had parried with his own, although they were kicks instead which was aimed towards Metal Sonic's chassis. Sonic ended up getting lucky before landing a kick on top of Metal Sonic's head, temporarily causing him to lose both his focus and balance, giving the Hedgehog the opportunity to homing attack the badnik.
Metal Sonic was blasted into the air by the attack before doing a front flip and reactivating his propulsion system, Metal Sonic's eyes glowed a brighter red in his silent fury.
-Initiating : V. Maximum Overdrive-
Metal Sonic's chassis then had begun to shake and shudder as he overloaded his circuits, a mixture of blue sparks erupted from his cavity and an fiery orange electric aura engulfed his body and Metal Sonic stared straight ahead at his heroic counterpart. Metal Sonic's propulsion system screamed louder as Metal took off at four times his original speed before vanishing from sight and warping a few feet above Sonic.
Metal Sonic then slashed across Sonic's face before grabbing him by the neck, electrocuting him before performing a horizontal flip and slamming Sonic's face in the ground while continuing to blast forwards in the air with Sonic's face continuously grinding in the pavement. Instinctively, the blue blur went into a rolling attack causing his sharp quills to slice his doppelganger's "joints" which had forced Metal Sonic to loosen his grip.
Smoke was seen erupting from the back of Metal Sonic's chassis before he slowed down to three times his original speed and he started to shudder and shake in the air as he sped after Sonic. As the smoke cleared from the chassis of Metal Sonic, the back of his propulsion system was seen glowing a bright red instead of yellow with a few heaps of smoke erupting from his propulsion system.
By Accelerating so quickly, Metal Sonic had over heated his propulsion system and was now vulnerable to attack.
Sonic slowed down, allowing Metal Sonic to overtake him before speeding up to deliver a well placed homing attack that made loud robotic noises emerge from Metal Sonic as he was knocked off course and through a wall to the right. Sonic didn't bother chasing Metal Sonic and he kept on course going straight.
"I gotta trash this base and find that new Phantom Ruby Prototype, Infinite already destroyed most of the Earth already and I don't want another repeat of that sheesh."
Sonic was interrupted from his thoughts when the force of an explosion from behind had him in the air and set a few of his sharp quills a flame, while in the air, Sonic patted his hair down before landing on his feet and zooming forwards again, Sonic then turned around to see his robotic counterpart hovering a few feet in the air with one large yellow barrel in each of his hands.
Metal Sonic then threw a barrael to Sonic's left causing him to quickstep right and avoid the blast the briefly consumed the left side of the long hallway, Sonic then wiped sweat off of his brow as he then turned around and started running in reverse before shooting a smug grin at Metal Sonic.
Metal Sonic then flung the other barell in Sonic's direction, causing him to turn around and spin jump towards the barell and boucing off it and into Metal Sonic's direction. Sonic delivered a round house kick that was blocked when Metal Sonic formed an "X" pattern with his arms blocking it, thanks to his lightning fast reflexes and trapping Sonic's foot between his wrists.
Metal Sonic then pulled Sonic back then delivered a brutal headbutt and then dive bombing straight down, sending both of them to the ground and leaving a crater in the concrete flooring.
Metal Sonic then floated up a few feet above Sonic as they both took in their new surroundings.
Both Metal and his organic template both realizied that they were in the area called "The Vault", the area were most of the Phantom Ruby Prototypes were stored for safekeeping.
Metal Sonic's Heads up Display flashed on his screen as he recieved a new transmission. [Song End]

"Metal Sonic, what are you doing!?", yelled Dr. Eggman's voiced inside of Metal Sonic's transmitter "My scanners have detected both you and Sonic inside of the vault, how did he get this far! Get rid of him before he comes across my Weapons of Mass Destruction!"

Metal Sonic then turned his attention back to Sonic who had barely moved from Eggman's last attack, Sonic was seen clenching his right eye shut, his right eye lid had consistent brusing and his face was covered in shattered rubble, he was barely standing on one leg with the other one bent with and what small peices of rubble going through it, his right arm was cradling the leg while his left arm was behind his back, most likely attempting to support his warped posture.
Sonic clenched his teeth and looked up with his one good eye at Metal Sonic before showing him a small smirk.
"I'll show you what I'm made of!" [Song Start- "What I'm made of"]
Feeling offended that even at his weakest that Sonic was taunting him, Metal Sonic made a beeline straight for his location attempting to deliver a killing blow.
Time seemed to completly freeze as Metal Sonic inched closer to closer to Sonic, Sonic's smirk inched bigger as each micro-second passed, Sonic seemed slowly close his eyes as Metal Sonic was barely two inches ahead of him. As Metal Sonic's claws had begun to circle around Sonic's throat, a green flash of light had completly engulfed the hedgehog's body and he had completlely dissapeared into thin air, leaving behind a huff of smoke.
Metal Sonic skidded to a halt as he tried to process what just happened, Sonic's speed was able to save him one last time. But that made no since, Sonic's leg was completly devastated, removing his ablity to run at the speed of sound or even run at all!
Metal Sonic turned around and looked at Sonic's last location for clues, he had then began to investigate the smoke that was slowly raising into the air, Metal Sonic's sensors had then began to detect leftover Chaos Energy residue.
Suddenly, a flash of Emerald Green light appeared in Metal Sonic's direction and he was then greeted with a Homing Attack to the faceplate, courtesy of Sonic the Hedgehog. Shocked at his sudden predicament, Metal Sonic's propulsion system roared to life as he fired off in Sonic's direction planning to deliver a slash with his hand, only for Sonic to be engulfed in the same Emerald light and dissapear the moment Metal Sonic's clawed digits would have made contact with his face.
Sonic then warped horizontally to his copy's side before delivering a hard round-house kick to the back to his frame that sent him flying into a wall, Metal Sonic slowly recovered and hovered out the crater he had made in the wall.
"Not really my speciality but Shadow taught me a few tricks about Chaos Control", Sonic answered before warping away again.

-Running Simulation; Chaos Control. Counter-
Using an outdated copy of the Ultimate Lifeform's data, Metal Sonic's processors had then began to predict and formulate a counter to Sonic's improvised Chaos Control.
Metal Sonic then slashed into the air where he calculated where Sonic would appear next only for him to warp away, causing him to completly miss. Sonic then homing attacked the robot before speeding a few feet away. Metal Sonic formulated another counter attack against Sonic before he charged again at his copy at the speed of sound.
"Chaos Control!", Sonic screamed as his body was then eveloped in a green flash of light and he completely dissapeared from Metal Sonic's sensors. Metal Sonic was beginning to feel worn down and adgitated, not only was he emulating an outdated copy of Shadow the hedgehog's data but he was also wasn't fighting Shadow, he was fighting Sonic, who had preferred to use his speed to deal out damage to his enemies instead of his Chaos abilities.
Metal Sonic had then begun to formulate an alternative plan of action, Metal Sonic knew that no matter how fast he went, Sonic would be able to simply teleport out of the way, Metal Sonic just wasn't simply fast enough to move faster than Sonic could think and react to activate Chaos Control.

The simulated outcome that was currently open displayed that if Sonic was moving fast enough, he had a thirty three percent chance to appear him and deliver a homing attack, to his backside, a twenty two point three percent chance to recive a jumping knee that sequenced into a spin jump, and a sixty seven percent chance to appear over head and deliver a stomp attack.
However Metal Sonic encountered an issue, this was a simualtion of Sonic leading into these attacks by running and putting on an extra burst of speed but Sonic wasn't running, he was teleporting to safety every time Metal Sonic tried to deliver a counter.
Metal Sonic then decided to run a simulation of Shadow's Chaos control, although with Sonic in an untrained state instead.
-Cross Referencing files "Sonic the Hedgehog data. recent" & "Ultimate Lifeform data. recent"-
Metal Sonic had then begun to slowly dodge and the parry the attacks from Sonic's newly found offense by quickstepping out of the way and either swatting Sonic back to the side to give himself time to create a new counter to Sonic's learned techniques. Sonic however wasn't letting up with his attacks, he had then begun utilizing Chaos Control in an "Attack and Retreat" fashion by attempting to wear him down with Teleporting homing attacks and various types of kicks that Metal Sonic barely had time to dodge.
-Attack Pattern found-
Metal had slowly had become progressively better at anticipating and dodging Sonic's attacks that were assisted by Chaos Control; he dodged a teleporting homing attack from behind, blocked a series of upper cuts and jabs, and then a side kick to the faceplate.
-New Counter Attack technique created. Initiating-
Metal Sonic's eyes temporarily flashed a brighter shade of red as he iniatiated the new program he created and then had began loading new variables to his instruction set. He then blasted off into the air.
