Defining Roles

It began with Life
and Death

and thus life was
born in an empty world

and then the image froze.

Death hung in the air;
she'd agreed on a number for balance
and there was nothing
here nor there
for her to do

Because she was death
and she could only kill.

And so Life took on a new role,
to increase the number
he had bestowed

but they changed not,
accomplished nothing

and it became a process
of addition
and subtraction

and so his role became three
and gave the gift of growth

and then came birth
and giving birth
and sex was introduced

and variation

until he split apart
in his roles

but Death remained
with her single curse

and single gift

and she kept all else to herself.

A/N: This is just born out of how the warrior of darkness stands out from the other warriors. Admittedly, most of them could be interpreted differently, but there's nothing that really divides the spirits under the main titles Light (or life) and Dark (or death). Some fanfic authors split them up occasionally, but then others (or maybe that was just my original draft of The Bonds of Friendship) which split them into a 9:1 relationship. Note that it was Kouichi who wasn't a part of Susanoomon; he had a separate role and the others in a sense combined. Also think of Cherubimon; it was 2:1 again. And then there's life, death and rebirth, 2:1 again.

Oh, and the reason Death is a female is because of the yin-yang.
