I don't own anything. This is just a little drabble for fun, because it came to me. It won't bring me any money or fame but it was nice to do. Thanks for letting me borrow your people.
Colors
There is no color in the world. It is all grey. Grey of fog, grey of cloud, grey of stone, silent with age. Grey is a pearl of mist. Grey is my being.
It seems I've been here a long time, lost in this garden. I don't remember not being here, although sometimes…
Sometimes there is something else. A spark. Some other color I'm not sure of. I know there are other colors. I've heard of them. Sometimes, one is there.
Gold. The trill of birdsong. The flash of sunlight through trees. A koi in a pond.
Green. Tree leaves talking quietly in the breeze. Grass, bowing to the low shrubs in a garden.
Blue. The sound of water splashing and the rhythmic tock of a bamboo fountain endlessly filling and emptying. Sky overhead. The flit of a bird's wing.
For a long time, they seemed to have no pattern. They came. They went. I stayed. Grey was there. My friend, grey.
Then I found the pattern. Every day, halfway between light and dark, there was color. There was sound. Every day, it stayed a little longer.
Maybe it will come today.

"Taking tea to Aoshi-sama again, Misao?" Okon asked, though it really was unnecessary. The fact that Misao was placing a teapot and cup on a tray was indication enough. Besides, it was noon. She always did it at noon.
"Yep," Misao chirped, flicking her long braid over one shoulder and picking up the tray.
"I don't know why you don't leave that poor man alone to meditate. He has so much to work through," Okon sighed.
Misao's head tipped to the side, like a sparrow's, fixing her with a bright, blue-green eye. "Because he needs me, Okon. He needs me."
To Misao, it was all that mattered. She picked up the tray and headed out the door towards the garden. Maybe he would notice her today.
A/N: Hope you enjoyed it. I've never particularly identified with these two characters before, but when this popped into my head, it just seemed right. Let me know what you think of it. Reviews are important!
Big thanks to Omasuoniwabanshi for beta-ing it for me. You rock! ;)
