Their hearts continued to pound, as Link and Zelda finally stopped in an open chamber. Zelda - formerly the fearless Tetra - collapsed to her knees, taking craved breaths of air. Their pursuers had been lost, and they were grateful for the few moments of rest. Link dropped his arms to his sides as he panted, feeling aches pulsing in his shoulders. As they caught their breath, their eyes moved up to scan the strange room.
It resembled a cathedral – grand but at the same time eerily empty. Speckles of gold and silver glinted dimly on the ceiling, like burned out stars. There was a shadowed area across the other end of the room, which suddenly sprung to life with candles.
They jumped. The haunting sound of an organ played through the silence, and a figure started to become clear… Link's bright blue eyes lost colour fast, and his heart began to knot up inside his chest.
That unnerving growl of laughter, there was no mistaking it... Taking heed, he unsheathed his sword and drew his shield, positioning himself for battle.
The Gerudo King himself sat at the organ, playing a beautifully tormenting melody.
Each note rattled Link to his very core.
There was an air of blood lust coming from the dark figure of the man, and at once the boy realized that there was no escape, despite the door being just a few feet away. The Master Sword clunked as his hand betrayed him and shook. His whole body was shuddering; he couldn't explain, but although he was scared out of his wits, he felt fiery anticipation at the same time.
This was his moment.
For everyone back home on the island, waiting and hoping for his safe return…
And for his dearest friend, who was counting on him at this very moment in time…
It was for them that he was going to fight this battle.
He was going to fight – and win. No matter the cost.
It was his destiny to defeat Ganondorf, right here and now.
For Link was, indeed, a Hero.
