This is my very first story on fan fiction, so I hope I did everything right. I looooove reviews, just sayin', and It's still a work in progress.

Finally, after staying up night after night, I had finished my application to the Washington state Genetic Research and Development Lab. I wasn't applying for a job, though I wish I was. I was just going for an internship in the development part of the deal.

Mom and dad were off hunting in Canada, and since I had graduated high school, and had my own apartment now, nothing could stop me from pursuing my dreams. Well, except perhaps the fact that the rest of my family had to leave soon. My grandparents Carlisle and Esme had already left for Colorado, along with the rest of our little family.

Everybody except mom and dad, who stayed behind to wait for me to finish high school and have my own place before joining them. There was one little glitch in my plan of staying behind to start my internship though. I kinda hadn't told my parents, and as soon as they got back, they intended to scoop me up and follow everybody down.

Letting these thoughts drift from my mind, I held the paper out in front of me with both hands, then kissed it with a smile. Just for fun, and to no one in particular, I said in a bad Italian accent, "She is, fineto!"

Laughing at my own bad accent, I spun around in my chair, putting down the paper and picking up an old photograph folded down the middle as I passed a small desk. The picture was of my mom and dad, smiling together. They were holding what appeared to be me, as a baby wrapped up in a blanket. Looking at their skin sparkling in the sunlight, I held up my own pale limb to the rapidly fading golden sunlight. It glimmered, but only slightly, like the facets on the tiny crystals you sometimes find in rock. Compared to my parents however, it was as dull as tree bark.

The silence surrounding my moment of thought and memories was broken as my dad's brand new Silverado turned the corner down the street. Oh boy. As I spun around the room like a tornado cleaning up as I went along, I thought, 'I guess it's into the fire now.'
