Hi all - I wrote this one ages ago. It's got no spoilers for anything and is set in S1. We had the final epi of S3 here last night and it prompted me to find this one and post. I think it might be a one shot - let me know what you think.

The rain lashed down outside, whipped into a frenzy by the howling wind. Inside the room sat a solitary figure; hunched over its knees sitting on the floor, looking like a small child. The figure was oblivious to the noise of the wind or the angry splattering of the rain outside, it was totally wrapped up in itself, in its broken soul.
The figure, a woman, sat in the darkness and remained still when the room grew light and then dark again; sometime during the second rotation she unfurled her legs and arms, stiff, but now able to move. Her mind had processed enough of the happenings of the last hours to be able to unfreeze her limbs. She was used to pain; it seemed like an almost comforting blanket in its familiarity, but this was a different and unfamiliar pain, one of the unknown and unknowing.
"Bren?...Sweetie… I'm so sorry" Angela murmured, wrapping her friend up in her arms. Tempe stood there unmoving, afraid to move or she would crack. "Have you heard anything?"
Temperance cleared her throat, and looked at some point off in the distance. "No, nothing." She whispered. And with an audible choke "The FBI won't even let me help - I was going crazy at home, I needed to come here and take my mind off hi.." she hesitated "…off it, but I can't concentrate" Tempe tried a weak watery smile.
"Ok Sweetie – if you need anything I'm here, we all are" and she gestured to the small group of Jack, Zach and Dr Goodman that had gathered behind her. Tempe's eyes flickered and went stormy grey as she remembered…
Since meeting Seeley Booth, Temperance Brennan had softened. Gone was the hard faced anthropologist who always had a rational explanation for everything and who rarely laughed. She had been replaced by a newer upgraded version named Temperance Brennan-Booth, still a highly skilled, analytical anthropologist, but now one who had a life outside of her lab and her team. She smiled more, laughed spontaneously and even cracked jokes that 'normal' people understood. She was tactile, openly caring and was totally besotted and in love with her husband, the handsome FBI agent.
When she first had this radical change of character the 'squint-squad' didn't know what to make of her. The only thing they could attribute the change to was that Brennan was doing work that saved lives and gave justice to the murdered, instead of focusing on history and techniques. It never even crossed their minds that it could have been Booth who caused the change. Angela so desperately wanted her best friend to be happy and she thought that Booth was the man for the job, but she never dreamed that he had already undertaken that particular career change.
They announced their relationship after Tempe had taken a four day weekend, when she arrived back at work on the Monday morning, it was with a smiling Booth's arm wrapped around her and a pair of shining rings on their fingers. "Dr. Booth – I presume" smiled Goodman "Dr. Brennan-Booth" she responded. Angela stood there with a huge grin slicing her face and gasped "I KNEW it! Congratulations Sweetie!" Booth and Brennan looked at each other and smiled….
Tempe shook herself out of the happy memory "Seeley, where are you?" she whispered, one lone tear tracking down her cheek.
I know it's out of character, but I wanted to explore them as a couple before all the Cam, Sully, Max etc issues came along. Should this stay as a oneshot? Please help!
