The Season 5 Finale got me real good and I just had to write this down.

If you haven't seen the Season or the Show in general DON'T READ THIS STORY!

You have been warned.

And I am so sorry for grammer/spelling mistakes.
My first language isn't english.

Let him go

Loneliness.

That could describe the feelings that currently prevailed in her body the best.

Loneliness, helplessness and pain...

The pain was the worst.

It was not of a physical nature.

No.

This pain came from deep within her soul, made her heart cramp and hot tears of grief flooded her eyes, as she raised her head and looked down at the grave that was standing in front of her.

One name was written down there.

George O'Malley...

No matter how hard she tried, but she didn't manage to avert her gaze.

The tears were running down her now flushed cheeks and a sob broke away from her throat.

No!

This couldn't be true!

Not George!

Not after everything they had been through together!

First Danny had left her and now even George.

She could no longer bear these losses...

More Tears burned in her eyes, wet her clothes and the howling wind around her brought her grief into the world.

George had been her best friend, and now she was kneeling in front of his grave.

The pain of his loss had hit her like a tidal wave that engulfed everything and everyone in its path.

The remaining days she had not let her grief show, but now she couldn't hold it back any longer.

Today it had broken out of her, when she wanted to bring George some flowers and when she had seen the name on his grave stone.

The sky had darkened over her head and it had started to rain.

Heaven cried with her that day...

How long she knelt before his grave, she didn't know.

All sense of time she had lost.

Something was put on her shoulder; let her wince before she looked up.

In front of her, she saw the face of her husband Alex.

His face was also marked by sadness, but unlike Izzie, he could still hold it back.

For how long?

That he didn't know.

Silently he knelt beside her and pulled her into his arms.

Immediately the young woman pressed against him, pressed her face into his chest and let all of her pain out of her and wept bitter tears of grief.

"Shhh Izzie. It's okay. Let it go," Alex whispered gently into her ear, when he realized that she was trying to defend herself against her grief.

"He's dead, Alex. He will never come back..."

Gently, she was petted over her head and she clung to his shirt.

"Let him go Izzie. Let George go..."

"I can't... He was my best friend ...I can't let him go. Not yet…"

Alex said nothing, pressed her closer to him and he felt how tears started to gather in his own eyes.

He, too, missed George, just like Meredith, Cristina and all the others missed him.

He had been a good friend and an equally good doctor.

It should not have end this way.

But they couldn't turn back the time to save him from his terrible fate.

No.

It had happened and they had to let him go.

Even if it was hard.

George would have wanted it that way...

The End
