Chapter one- Midgar, Gaia
"RUN!" Barrett roared at us. The explosion of Shinra s Mako Reactor was imminent And we were right next to it. I jumped and forced my sword through the head of the giant robot in front of us, but that didn t help us escape much.
{DETONATION IN THIRTY SECONDS}
I swore loudly, waving at Barrett and Tifa to follow me. We ran down the corridor back the way we came, with the slim hope that we could get out before we were incinerated.
Tifa punched a control panel on the steel wall, because we didn t have time to crack the pass code. Some stray sparks caught in my spiky blonde hair I swatted at them impatiently and ran.
{DETONATION IN FIFTEEN SECONDS}
I started sweating profusely, forcing my legs to move faster. I knew we couldn t possibly escape this We were doomed.
Barrett shot another control panel on a wall (his hand is a large machine gun) to open the door. It worked, but I heard the deafening blast of the reactor behind us. "D**MIT!" He screamed.
It was over, I knew it was. I couldn t keep going. But something told me we had a chance. My vision blurred and I saw a shimmer on the wall, on the opposite side of the room. I stood up and ran to it, signaling the others to follow. Cloud, what are you doing? We have to get out of here! Tifa screamed behind me. I ignored her and pressed my hand to the shimmering spot, which had gotten bolder. It now resembled a sort of M, with a K I didn t recognize it, but it seemed to be our only hope.
As soon as I had my hand on it, we were out. Not home, but not caught in the explosion. Red XIII, Cid, Yuffie, and Cait Sith were with us. I didn t recognize the place, and no one seemed to know anything more. But, through the blistering silence, I heard an angry voice shouting, "GET OVER HERE!"
