I was walking down the hallway, my fingers linked loosely through Roy's as we walked to his car. Out of nowhere, a big, burly guy who could have been a jock shoved past us, shouting out something along the lines of, "Hey, fags. Going to make out somewhere?"
I lost it. I started shouting and trying to run after him. If it hadn't been for Roy, I would have, too. He slapped a hand over my mouth, muffling the obscenities I was shouting, and held me back forcefully.
"Damn it, Edward. Calm down. Do you want to get expelled again?"
"Did you hear him, Roy? Did you fucking hear what he said?"
"Yes, Edward. I heard him, and it pissed me off, too, but you can't react like that to everyone who says something like that to you." Roy was struggling to hold me back while I still struggled to get free. I jerked my head away from the hand covering my mouth.
"And why not? All we did was hold hands while straight couples give each other tongue baths in the middle of the hall, and we're the ones who get called disgusting?"
"Edward, there are teachers around. I'll ask again, do you want to get expelled? You need to calm down."
I finally relaxed in Roy's grip, practically falling against Roy as my muscles relaxed far more than I expected.
"I suppose it's for the best you stopped me, anyway. The band director's standing right there," I muttered. Neither of said anything for a minute, and then Roy suddenly started chuckling.
"Edward Elric, I don't know if I should be happy or hurt that the only reason you finally calmed down was because Barnes was standing across the hall."
"I love you, Roy," I giggled; Roy's laugh was contagious. He stopped in the middle of the hall, wrapped an arm around my lower back, tilted me backwards, and kissed me.
"I love you, too, Edward. I always will. And I don't care what some asshole shitfaced dick says about it. I will face them with you, and we'll get through everything life hands us together." I smiled and linked our fingers again.
Author's Note: This is actually based off of a true story that happened about two years ago with my ex-girlfriend and me. Some of it's been changed around because I didn't remember the exact events that took place or the exact words that were said.
