Empty Space
Empty Space
Empty space next to me,
The cold pillow announces your absence.
Sitting up, I clutch the sheets in clenched fists,
Without you, time hardly lapses.
My eyes scan the room
And rest on your bureau,
Everything but the mirror is gone,
The open drawers show your search through.
The reflection in the glass mirror,
Show off you wide, sorrowful eyes,
And the tears that stream down my face,
How could you spread your wings and take to the skies?
You left me alone to face the world
No fate could be worse
A woman, with no support, left on her own,
Only a man could give such a curse.
