Disclaimer: J.K. Rowling owns the Harry Potter universe, I just own this one-shot. No copyright intended!
Author's note: This will be a Harry/Parvati one-shot, taking place the morning after the Yule Ball. Harry feels awful for the way he acted at the Yule Ball, not giving Parvati a night to remember that she deserved. Implied Ron bashing. Rated T.
Apologizing To Parvati
fanfic by Brockster550
Harry Potter, a fourteen year old boy in Gryffindor house, was just getting up. Last night at the Yule Ball wasn't all that great because Harry had trouble getting over the fact that Cho Chang (a fifth year Ravenclaw girl) had been asked to be Cedric's date. To make it worse for him, Harry was so afraid of dancing with any girl that he found himself unable to ask any to be his date. He didn't really understand girls before, all because of the Dursleys leaving him alone and friendless before starting Hogwarts. But Harry knew it was mostly his fault for letting his nervousness get in the way and ignoring Parvati Patil, his date once the opening dance for the Triwizard champions ended. Ron Weasley, Harry's best friend soon-to-be ex-best friend was acting like a bigger jerk toward Parvati's twin sister, Padma. But Ron got into a huge fight with Hermione Granger, Harry's other best friend, just because she went to the ball with Viktor Krum, the Durmstrang champion. Ron claimed that Hermione had been fraternizing with the enemy, despite his attempt to ask Fleur Delacour, the Beauxbatons champion, to be his date, but he ran off before getting an answer. Ron tried putting Harry in a tug-of-war situation by trying to coax him into taking Ron's side, but Harry didn't say anything. Harry saw Parvati walking down the spiral staircase leading up to the girls dormitory, so he took a deep breath and approached Parvati.
"Hey, Parvati." said Harry.
"Yes." said Parvati as she eyed Harry.
"I just wanted... to apologize," said Harry. "I'm sorry for the way I treated you at the ball last night. You really deserved better, but I let my nervousness get in the way, and I also should've done a better job at accepting that Cho went with Cedric."
"Apology accepted, Harry." said Parvati with a smile.
"Is there anything I can do to make it up to you," asked Harry. "Maybe more than just saying sorry?"
"Maybe," said Parvati. "But I don't want to be a bit on the selfish side."
"Maybe we can go to Hogsmeade later." suggested Harry.
"Are... are you trying to ask me... out on a date?" wondered Parvati.
"Y-Y-Yessss," said Harry. "W-Would you like to g-go on a date with me to Hogsmeade later?"
"I'd love to, Harry!" said Parvati, beaming.
"Where would you like to go first?" asked Harry.
"Maybe the Three Broomsticks for some butterbeer," suggested Parvati. "And perhaps Honeydukes afterwards, if that's okay."
"Sure," said Harry. "That'd be wonderful."
Later on, once breakfast was over, Harry held a hand out to Parvati, who grabbed a hold of it. Then the two (along with the majority of the students) started making a beeline for Hogsmeade Village. Once Harry and Parvati made it to the Three Broomsticks, they ordered some butterbeer, with Harry offering to pay for Parvati's, not just his. After that, they went to Honeyduke's Sweetshop, and Harry offered to purchase some candy for Parvati, not just for himself. Parvati was grateful that Harry was buying for the both of them, and the two were enjoying every minute of their outing in Hogsmeade. Harry was now getting a better understanding of making it up to somebody who he wronged, and he couldn't feel any prouder of himself.
The End!
