"Uhh... Jackie?"
Marco's voice cracked a little under pressure. He could feel Star's eyes staring intensely at him from down the hallway. To be honest with her staring it just made him more nervous. Jackie Lynn Thomas brushed a light blue strand of hair behind her ear and lifted her head from the water fountain. Her blonde hair, almost light as snow, fell back against her cheek in its natural waviness.
"Oh, hey Marco! I didn't expect to see you-" She smiled at him, a smile that made his heart flutter.
"-you, got something for me?" The skater girl pointed at the item he was holding behind his back.
Marco gulped, his face heating up as he struggled with words.
"Uhh, y-y-yeah. I uh, um... h-here."
He bit his lip and quickly handed her a heart shaped card. If he hadn't watched what he was doing he would of smacked the thing right in her face.
Jackie looked surprised, slowly unfolding the card and began reading it.
Marco clasped his hands together and rocked on his heels uneasily, beads of sweat growing on his forehead.
Maybe this is a bad idea. He thought. Why did he let Star convince him to do this in the first place?
He glanced up, and his eyes met hers. Marco tensed up, wishing that the floor would swallow him up right then and there.

"I love it." She told him.
"Huh?"
"I love it." She repeated, her smile never leaving her face.
"And I'd love to go out for ice-cream."

What?

Marco never wrote anything down about ice-cream. He only wrote Happy Valentines Day, a few other supporting sentences and drew of cheesy picture of her.
So how did that get there?
The next thing that happened was very unexpected to both him and Star, who was watching from afar.
Jackie took ahold of his hand and squeezed it. Marco's heart skipped a beat while Star threw her hands over her mouth to silent her squealing.
"Let's go Safe Kid."
Marco let out a laugh, one of joy and anxiety, his cheeks the color of his hoodie.
Normally being called Safe Kid ticked him off, but the way Jackie said it was totally different. She didn't mean it in a way to insult or label him.
She was just being nice.

He hesitated for a moment before he decided to squeeze her hand back.
A goofy smile creeped its way to his face and it didn't seem to go away.
"Yeah. Let's go." The two walked down the hall holding hands and exited the school.

Meanwhile Star was aww'ing at how cute they were. Then she did a fist pump and jumped into the air. She knew adding in the ice-cream bit would work.
"Yes! Mission accomplished! Now I can spend the rest of the day eating chocolate eyeballs with Janna."
