A short alternate ending fic that I wrote after I finished an exam I was taking... On my calculator. One chapter, relatively short. Will not be continued.

Disclaimer: I don't own characters, sadly, J.K. Rowling does.

The tall dark man's cloaks billowed around him as he paced across the grounds of the hell hole that had once been the beautiful school of Hogwarts. The sun was starting to rise over the gore-strewn grounds. There was blood everywhere.

They had all returned to the castle upon the defeat of the thing that had once been the Dark Lord. Voldemort. The name was still bitter on his tongue.

Nearly everybody had returned... Or been accounted for. Except one. Snape continued his trek into the Forbidden Forest at the far end of the grounds. He was pretty sure he would be able to find her.

She. The one who had captivated him since she appeared as a student in the great hall, eagerly running up to the stool to be sorted. Her. The one who had stolen from him in order to make a very successful Polyjuice potion in her second year. She. The young woman who had cemented his faith in the light side of the war. Her. The one who had worked so hard in his classes just to prove herself to him. He had to find her.

He continued through the woods until he reached a small clearing where the early morning sunlight shone through the trees and illuminated a small pool or clear running water and a tiny meadow.

Then he saw her. She was leaning across a log, her hair cascading over the back of it. From where he stood, she looked as though she was asleep. He slowly made his way further into the clearing, checking as he got closer that everything was alright.

Her arm was draped over the top of her stomach. He crouched down next to her, trying not to disturb her as best he could, but still trying to be as near to her as possible.

"Severus..." She blinked, groggy from sleep.

"I'm here, love." She curled up in his arms.

"I had to leave. Lupin. Fred. Tonks. Everyone else. It was just too much." He hugged her closer to himself.

"I know, love. It's over now, though."

"Yes. Over. And this one here will live in a peaceful world and not have to worry about the purity of his or her blood." Severus wrapped his arm around her, placing his large hand over the span of her abdomen.

"With two of the smartest witches and wizards in the world as parents, I do believe her blood will be the least of her worries."

"Her?"

"Yes. I had a dream last night about the two of you; my two beautiful ladies."

"Her... I like that," she repeated, yawning into his black clad chest.

"I do as well, though I would absolutely love anything as long as it involved you."

"You flatter me, Severus Snape."

"Yes. But, we must get back to the castle. I know that you are under stress, and that could be dangerous. We should have the healer check you."

"Do we have to go? It's so peaceful here."

"One cannot run away from reality, Hermione, my love. There will be time after everything has been amended to enjoy the peace. But right now, you are a heroine."

"Alright." Hermione stood up using Snape's shoulder as a counterbalance. "Let's go."

Snape and Hermione walked back to the castle together, arm in arm.

It was the end of the pureblood supremacy. The end of mixed blood's era of fear. It was the dawning of a new era. The dawn of a new day. The beginning of forever. And, most importantly, the beginning of the Granger-Snape family line. A line that would wreak havoc upon the academically gifted side of Hogwarts for generations and generations to come.

And she, she was his love, his life, the mother to his children, and soon to be his wedded wife. She understood who he was, and why he was. She did not believe what people had said about him. She had trusted him. And now, he loved her. But, most importantly, she loved him.
