Disclaimer: I don't own Agents of Shield. It belongs to Marvel. I'm just a fan.
Summary: Coulson discovers Skye has been having trouble sleeping and gets her to open up about why. The truth is sometimes very hard to swallow in this case, as he finds out.
Pairing: Skye(Daisy)/P. Coulson(Father-Daughter)
It was close to three in the morning and Skye was still wide awake. She had been having nightmares ever since she learned the truth about her mother being dead from Coulson. She sighed as she surfed the internet on her laptop.
She was so deep into her surfing that she jumped when she heard a soft knock on her room door. "Geez!" She exclaimed. "Come in." She closed the lid on her computer and sighed as he opened the door and walked inside.
He made sure to close it behind him for privacy and he turned to her. "You're up late tonight. You okay?" He asked in his usual fatherly tone. He normally spoke this way when he was talking to her. His expression was genuine concern for his youngest team member. "You do look exhausted, Skye. What's wrong?"
She let out a soft sigh and then shrugged. "I'm fine." She lied, not making eye contact with him. She always did hate worrying him.
"Don't give me that. I know you better than that." He said. He sat down next to her on the bed. "Come on. Tell me." His voice grew even softer when he spoke the last two sentences. "You haven't really been yourself lately. Is it about what I told you regarding your mom?"
Tears formed in her eyes which gave away the reason she was upset. "Yeah." She answered in a very shaky tone. The dreams…they are really bad." She then lowered her head as sobs echoed the room. They were from her.
Coulson's heart broke for her. He enveloped her into his arms and let her cry it out. He wound up staying there with her long after she cried herself into a deep yet dreamless sleep. Her body badly needed it, as he figured out.
The next morning, he made it an order Skye was to stay on the Bus for the next few days and be out of action so that she could get herself together and catch up on her sleep. He caught up with her late in the afternoon when he stopped by her room to check on her. Her door was open. He called in and asked, "How are you holding up?"
She shot him a small smile and said, "I'd be lying if I said I was fully okay, but I should be fine after a while."
He smiled and nodded. "I'm here if you need to talk again."
"I know." Skye said and nodded. "Thanks."
"You're welcome." He said softly. He sighed and then added, "Let me know if you need anything."
"I will. Thanks." She said and then approached him. She gave him a tight hug as a thank you.
He hugged her back. She really is a daughter to me. He thought.
