Devotion
Withholding a sigh of relief, Clare slid down into a sitting position in front of the fire, the feeling of her claymore pressed against her back comforting, and Jean's usual protective stare soothing as she closed her eyes, trusting Jean to keep her safe as she relaxed.
It hadn't been soothing at first, though. Being followed around, constantly watched. Clare had felt entirely too uncomfortable with Jean for a while, and even slightly annoyed and irritated that the woman felt the need to follow her anyway. But after a while of having a traveling partner, and after laughing and joking with another...and especially after their first kiss, Clare had started to warm up to the though of Jean and her devotion to Clare.
It was comforting to know that Jean would always watch out for her, would always make sure she was safe and happy, and Clare wanted to do the same. She wanted Jean to be happy, and safe with her as well.
Opening her eyes, Clare smiles a little at Jean, whose resting, standing up, her back against a tree, motioning for her to come closer and wrapping an arm around the other woman's shoulders when she did move closer, sitting down next to Clare in the same position.
