Author's Note: My first Tsubasa Chronicle fic. Not even long enough to be a proper one-shot, yet feedback is appreciated.
Dawn broke at Clow country, as the young princess was awoken by the gleaming rays of the sun.
Sakura arose from the lucid warm layers of deep sleep, and glanced at the sight of the morning. Another day had begun…just another day after they all had returned to the country, only for her to see the other three and the adored Mokona leave to continue journeying. Another day, after the time, like a river which had been stopped, had begun to flow again.
She knew how easy it was to forget those years of struggles and sacrifices, in order to make her believe nothing had changed; it was only a matter of time. Time, stopped for only a few minutes, had repercussions so severe; it almost threatened to break apart the time-space continuum.
She knew how difficult it was to wait, while the person she loves still was out in dimensions filled with unknown adversities. As a price of relieving their burden as much as she could, she gave up the wish to accompany them on their journey. Her presence would have been painful; yet she doesn't know what was more painful - to wait or to travel with them.
Years had gone by, prices paid, sacrifices made, wishes fulfilled, all for the sake of reversing an untimely death cast. A person's life, so precious to someone; who was willing to go to any extent to protect it, shield it, yet the ultimate truth prevails…
Living once dead cannot be brought back to life.
Had it not been for her beloved Syaoran, she, Sakura wouldn't have been standing here alive, perfectly safe and well in her own kingdom.
It wasn't the eternity elapsed between the few minutes on that fateful day that made the acceptance of her waiting easy, it was this simple, innate fact that continued to flicker in her heart like a flame.
She and Syaoran; they loved each other. The love that survived various hurdles, will only be stronger now, now that they knew each other's true feelings…
It was this love, this strong bond that will finally bring them together forever…
It was now only a matter of time, not of survival. Before they could 'find the world where all of them could live together' as Syaoran had promised her.
The world where they could finally begin to live their lives the way it was meant to be from the start, was a long way from being discovered. She knew this very well, yet she couldn't stop herself from thinking, imagining, how that world would be.
She would wait, as a child, excited for his birthday, as an adolescent, awaiting the start of an expedition, as an adult, anticipating the love of his or her life to blossom like a flower.
She would wait, patiently, eagerly, worriedly; the time laced with the fragrance of hope and desire…
Hope that their final wish will be fulfilled, for sure.
Desire that it will be done at the earliest.
Even though she knows, it could seem like another eternity; this will not deter either her or Syaoran.
It was only a matter of time now…before a new beginning will take place.
It shall be our last struggle now; let us endure it till the end, Syaoran, whispered Sakura, as the sun rose in its full glory, the breeze sweeping across the desert plains.
It was an omen of the future, and it only spoke of good wishes.
With a smile and a silent prayer, Sakura left her balcony, only pausing to glance at the sun, speaking as if making a promise.
It has begun…the fulfillment of our wish…
