I'm Sorry
"Lucy, wake up." a kind voice came through the door of my bedroom and knocked me out of the trance I was in. I turned to look at the door.
"I'm up," I said loudly.
"Oh,well,school's in two hours."
"I know."
"May I come in?"
"Sure."
She opened the door and light blinded me. My eyes snapped shut immediately.
"My,my,it's dark in here. Why don't you put on a light?"she asked with her voice lined with worry.
"I like candles."I hissed at her in annoyance, while cracking my eyes open to glare at her.
"Well,I'll get some candles today. Only if you go to school."
"Fine."
"That means not getting sent home"
"But-"
"No 'buts' sweetheart. Now get dressed."
"Fine."
She shut the door and I jumped off the bed and walked over to the wooden dresser half way across the room. I opened the dresser to reveal green, red and black dresses. I grabbed a green one and quickly threw it on and ran in to my bathroom to brush my hair. When I came out my gaze fell on a letter that has been on my side table. I picked it up and rushed out the door, ran down the hallway and down the stairs.
"Lucy?" someone asked. I stopped immediately. I looked to the left into the living room to see Bill Peterson standing there looking at the ground, with a football at hand.
"What is it Billy?" I said kindly.
"C-can you play football with me after y-you come home from school today?"
"Sure, whatever you feel like doing today" I said kindly, before bolting out the door.
I quickly and carefully put my letter in the mailbox and ran down the sidewalk. I got three blocs away before stopping. I was completely out of breath so I staged there panting and gasping. Then a sudden hope filled me. The hope that the letter will be given to Joanna, my half-sister who lives in Vale. That Bill will understand why we'll be sending him away.
A searching sound filled the air. I let out a sigh before a sharp pain filled my body. Everything went black.
Two weeks later...
Sixty-two people were standing there in the rain. Watching a coffin get lowered in to the ground. Many of the woman and children were crying. Men were standing with emotionless mask. A little boy was standing there with a football in hand. A little girl was also standing there next to him with a unopened letter.
Too them the world seemed to go march slower. All the happiness seemed to have slipped away form the world. The girl looks up to see her mother, with a black veil over her face hiding her tears coming down. A few minutes later the woman, the girl, and the boy left the rest of the people.
The woman sent the children away to the car. The boy looked back once to see the woman standing next to a man who was holding something shine. He looked away.
They got in the shiny car. The woman came back shortly after. The car started and left. The children's eyes started to slip shut. The woman stared at them grimly. The children were soon asleep.
