please speak softly for they will hear us / and they'll find out why we don't trust them / speak up dear, 'cause I cannot hear you / I need to know why we don't trust them
explain to me this conspiracy against me, yeah / tell me how I lost my power, oh yeah
where can I turn, 'cause I need something more / surrounded by uncertainty I'm so unsure / tell me why I feel so alone / 'cause I need to know to whom do I owe
explain to me this conspiracy against me, yeah / tell me how I lost my power, oh yeah
I thought that we'd make it / because you said that we'd make it through / and when all security fails / will you be there to help me through?
explain to me this conspiracy against me, yeah / and tell me how I lost my power, oh / (oh, I lost my power)
Bella clings to Edward's hand in confusion. Why is everyone staring at her like that? She won't admit that their red eyes give her the creeps as they all come to rest on her. The one in the middle, the one Edward calls Aro, is the worst. He calls her Bella informally, like he knows her, and everything he says is with great enthusiasm, like he's just a perpetually eager man. But Bella knows he's not. She knows the stories, that he is really a cold-blooded killer who would murder her in a second, just for being human. The thought makes her squeeze Edward's hand even tighter. What's everyone got against her? Just because she's not human, does that make her inferior? What's their conspiracy against her? She glances up at Edward, questions dancing in her eyes, but the hard way his black eyes are frozen, like glass about ready to splinter into a million tiny pieces, shuts her up.
