Coming home

Paring: Sam/Jack.
Summary: Teal'c and Daniel return from a long mission.

One shot and it is written for the ficathon on the Sam Carter/Jack O'Neill appreciation thread on GW. (the new name of the S/J family thread)

Sam could hear him coming from around the corner. He was running towards her lab it was funny how after over a decade together, she could tell her teammates footsteps apart. It had been a long time since they had spoken to each other. There hadn't been a chance for any messages between them that weren't work related. She was so excited when she heard that he was finally coming back with Teal'c. It had been almost eight months since she had seen them. Would they have changed? Sam didn't know, she hoped not.

"Sam, I'm so glad to finally see you…" Daniel said running into her lab, before stopping abruptly. He stared at her, a confused look etched across his features. Sam shifted uncomfortably.

"Erm…" Hadn't Sam told him about her little 'problem'? Oh yeah, that was it, no personal messages. Close behind Daniel was Teal'c. He, too, stopped and looked closely at her, grin widening as he noticed the differences between how she looked now and the last time he had seen her. Daniel was on the other hand still gaping at her.

"Sam…" Daniel started, but Teal'c interrupted his friend. "Colonel Carter, it is good to see you again and I see that O'Neill has blessed you with a child, my congratulations." Sam grinned and ducked her head..

"Thank you Teal'c." And she hugged him. Teal'c raised his eyebrow at Daniel, still stood agape.

He shook his head and let out a strangled cough."Yeah Sam, congratulations." He hugged her too. Glancing at her slyly, a smile lit his mouth. "I see we aren't the only ones with a few stories to tell, so how far along are you?"

"Um, almost six months." She grinned.

"Wow, and you couldn't tell us?"

"I thought Jack did."

Daniel rolled his eyes. "You thought Jack did?"

"Yeah, I should have known better." Sam winced.

"Talking of him, where is he? I thought he would be here when we came back. He retired right?"

"He didn't. After he heard the news of me being pregnant he decided he didn't want to look like an old father and that he still needed to be active for our child, but since he doesn't want to be far away from us as well he got a new oversight position at the SGC but with the same responsibility as the old job. The president even promoted him; he's in DC at the moment. Working out the last few points before he moves back."

"Wow," Daniel said again, looking completely flabbergasted. The man spoke twenty three languages and sometimes he couldn't think of anything to say in any of them. He then looked at Teal'c; "Why did we go on that mission?! All the interesting things happen on our own planet!"

"Indeed, but Vala Mal Doran insisted on your presence". He shot a sly look at his young friend." Daniel nodded and smiled;, clearly reliving some interesting memories..

"So, you want to go out for a meal later, catch up?" Trying to get them back from that unfortunate subject.

"Yeah," Daniel was quiet for a moment, "So Jack is a three star now eh? He will so love all that paperwork from the mission." Daniel grinned.

"Awww Daniel, that's evil." Daniel just smiled and when Sam looked at Teal'c she saw he was struggling to hide his grin.

Everything was right now; her best friends were with her, a child that she never dreamed of, on the way and Jack moving back to her. Yup, life couldn't be better.
