It was a cold and wintry night when Declan came home. He stood in the road with his bags in his arms just staring. Staring at the old by level house he grew up in. The house was pitch dark not a soul in sight which insanely made him feel at ease. As he stepped onto the porch memories flooded his mind. He remembered his dad who taught him how to tie his shoes on that porch. And his mom who would patch him up after a fall on his skateboard. But most of all, he remembered Jessica. The girl who would race him home after a long day at school. The girl who kissed him when they were just five years old. The girl he fell in love with. He knew it was different now. That all of his loved ones moved on without him. So, he moved towards the door and walked into the darkness.
