He woke up from that nightmare again; he woke up panting and sweating, his heart pounding in his chest. Eric hated that nightmare, the one that seemed to last for ages. He grabbed his glasses from the bedside table and put them on, not like it really helped him see in the darkened bedroom, but he needed them on so he could check the most important thing.
He looked down at the figure lying next to him, still curled up with the sheets pulled up almost completely over their head.
"Alan, Alan wake up"
He gently shook the younger man's shoulder, he still felt that panic, but it eased a bit when he placed his hand on the other man's shoulder. It eased just a tiny bit when he could feel him there, know he was there, and the panic nearly vanished when the figure next to him stirred and groaned in slight annoyance. Alan sat up rubbing at his tired eyes, he glanced up at the older man confused as to why he was being waken up so early in the morning.
"What is it?"
Eric smiled, he couldn't help but laugh at his own stupidity. It was only just a nightmare; it was always just a stupid horrible dream. He ran his fingers back through his hair.
"N-nothing just, nothing" He muttered feeling stupid now.
The brown haired male put on his own glasses so he could better see his boyfriend. He seemed visibly concerned now that he could see Eric's slightly shaking form and how nervous he still looked. He wrapped his arms around the blonde's midsection, he rest his chin on his shoulder.
"It doesn't look like nothing, did you have that dream again?"
He loved the sound of Alan's voice; he loved how soft and feminine it was, how concerned he sounded. He loved the feeling of his arms wrapped around him, his breath against his skin; in general he just loved him. He placed his hands over Alan's lacing their fingers together.
"Yeah just that dumb dream again, I'm better now though. Sorry 'bout waking you up."
The younger man laughed, he pulled away and lay back down on the bed looking at Eric.
"I don't mind, come on let's get back to sleep."
The older reaper lay down, he wrapped his arms around his boyfriend's small frame pulling him against his body. He still needed to feel him, see him, and hear him; he still wanted to be reminded just how alive Alan really was. He needed to remember that he was right here and everything was okay and they weren't dead. He kissed the top of Alan's head, his forehead, the tip of his nose, and then his lips. The brown haired man smiled against his lips before kissing back, his fingers tangling in Eric's hair. He felt so perfect, right, and beautiful; he couldn't imagine losing him, losing what he had with Alan.
"It's just a dream Eric" He whispered
Eric nodded smiling softly, he closed his eyes drifting back to sleep.
He woke up feeling slightly confused, he patted the empty space next to him on the bed. He quickly sat up and looked around the room feeling a slight panic; it was dark, empty, and quiet. So much silence and the darkness felt overwhelming, it took him a moment to realize everything. Once the realization hit he placed his face in his hands and began to cry.
"It's just a dream Eric" He whispered to himself, to the silence, and to the man that was no longer by his side.
