Why had he done it?

He couldn't figure it out. Why had Shadow sealed him away? There was no reason…

He hated Shadow. Shadow has no right to trap him away like this! He hadn't done anything wrong!

…Had he?

Where was his brother? At least, he guessed they were his brother. Warm, powerful, that presence was no longer there…

What had happened?

He couldn't remember ever feeling like this before.

What had been "before?"

"Solaris."

"Solaris" had been "before." He remembered that now, but what was "Solaris?"

A god.

A deity.

One that a human had thought he could control.

Stupid, foolish human.

He hoped the human had died. A human, control a god? Control Solaris? He wanted to laugh! He already had once before, hadn't he? Yes…When the human had tried to command him.

But…laughter didn't chase away the silence. It didn't make the unyielding darkness any brighter…

Why didn't it change? Where was he? Who was he?

He could feel his thoughts racing and racing, his mind unwilling to slow down. How long had it been? How long had he been here? Why was there no time?

He screamed. He screamed until his voice threatened to give, and even then he continued screaming, doing so even louder. The silence was deafening, the darkness was smothering, and it was all closing in on him and threatening to crush him and there was no way to escape it and it was all Shadow's FAULT!

He would have his revenge…

When he was freed and resurrected, he would have his revenge on the world that thought it could control him, and the hedgehog who'd sealed him away.

When he thought about it, the darkness wasn't so bad…It was actually…comforting…

The silence was nice, too. It let him think in peace.

Yes, the world would rue the day it crossed Mephiles the Dark.
