Change. It had happened when his family died- or rather was killed- by his older brother's hand. He definitely wasn't the young, bright boy he used to be.

Sasuke Uchiha was fairly sure that the incident had irreversibly changed him.

For a while he cried for nights; scrunching up blankets with miniature hands, no one to hear the echoes of wailing in the corridor. Breakfast was never made by mum anymore, whilst he never saw dad read the newspapers or feel his brother's poke on his pale forehead. Sasuke found himself spending many nights sitting at the dinner table staring at the moon in haunted memory, uselessly wishing for things to go back to before. It didn't do anything, and family-less life continued.

Years passed and so did the crying- but apparently the same could be said for the laughs, smiles and happiness. Playful scowls, the bragging of dreams and all childishness also seemed unwilling to follow the Uchiha. He was calm, cool, collected and apathetic to feelings from anyone around him.

Sasuke Uchiha had been fairly sure that the incident had irreversibly changed him.

. . .

"Bastard!"

"Idiot."

"Why do you always-?"

"Can't you keep up with me?"

"…Bastard!"

. . .

Then he finds Team 7. He begins to have to stab down laughs; he begins to unintentionally let an annoying idiot's voice mess with his brain. He begins to feel urges to bump said idiot's fist without much reason.

The world has not looked so bright in years.

. . .

Change; it's happening now, when the blond idiot grins and opens his stupid mouth. Then everything doesn't seem so heavy anymore, because all his frustrations melt into intent to hurt the boy for saying his hair looks like a chicken's butt. And afterwards maybe they'll lie in the grass with bruises and mussed hair; scowling at each other for being stupid or simply just an asshole. And then it's not so bad anymore because the silence is comfortable and they're both tired- maybe they can have a wink of sleep- and nothing feels more important than the fact that they're tired and annoyed, but secretly grateful that there's someone else there to make the world less lonely.

Sasuke Uchiha was still sure that the incident had irreversibly changed him. Even so, he started to feel even the past couldn't stop him from continuing to change even now.
