It was a wonderful day at the Mushroom Kingdom, as little Toads and Toadettes play in the Castle Gardens while their parents roam the castle, all waiting for a momentous occasion. No one ever thought that the day would come, but apparently, Bowser has turned over a new leaf, and was going to sign a peace treaty with the Mario brothers and Princess Peach herself. Nobody believed him, obviously, but he had not sent an attack for a little over a month.
Bowser was said to come at noon, and at five minutes till, everyone was herded inside the Meeting Hall. Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toadsworth all stood up at the front, along with Professor E. Gadd. The hall was filled with nervous tension, and the air was sudden;y broken when Bowser burst through the doors with some of his minions. "Guess who's back?" He said as he marched towards the small group at the front. Everyone just stood there in a half shocked, half skeptical way. "What?" Bowser asked. "I showered this morning."
Peach strode up the the koopa king. "I am terribly sorry. Everyone just wasn't ready for your sudden change of heart. Now," she said as she turned towards the guests. "Let us begin the signing." Everyone started to murmur, but an interrupting cough came from the front. "I am terribly sorry, too." E. Gadd started. "But we cannot start just yet, Your Highness." Toadsworth nodded. "Correct. We must wait for the official to bring the treaty itself." E. Gadd shook his head. "Actually, we must wait for my new assistant. He is the actual one bringing the treaty."
The room filled with the talk of E. Gadd's announcement. Only lawyer officials or Toadsworth were allowed to hold important documents. Suddenly, everyone went quiet as loud footsteps came from outside the Hall. They were getting closer, a door opened and was slammed closed, more footsteps, and then...The Hall filled with gasps as the double doors flew open once more, and a young kid ran in, carrying a scroll and an old-fashioned quill pen. He stopped in the middle of the hall, glancing around. He looked about nine to ten. He was dressed like the Mario brothers, but with an orange shirt and hat, and slightly brighter overalls. The letter "P" was in the middle front of his hat. His hair was somewhat long and dark brown. But most noticeable was his giant, thick framed glasses.
He glanced down, took a deep breath, and continued up to the front. He stopped in front of Princess Peach, unraveled the scroll, and showed it to her. Trying to hold it up with one hand, he handed the quill to her with the other. She delicately took it and wrote her name. She handed it to Mario, who in turn did the same, passing it to Luigi, until all four has written on the scroll. Once they were done, the quill was handed back to the boy, who rolled up the scroll, gave a little bow, and took his stand beside E. Gadd, who was was of the same height as. Once all was done, Toadsworth walked before everyone, and announced, "The Mushroom Kingdom is now at peace! You may all go back to your homes." And so everyone did, which much talk, mostly about E. Gadd's new assistant.
As they were all filing out, the boy walked up to Mario and Luigi. "Um...I...I would like you to...t-to come to the professor's lab with us!" He sputtered out. Without a word, he ran back to the professor. With nothing else to do, the duo followed suit.
