The setting sun found itself a weary sight to an adventurer, the young explorer dragging his legs to the nearest cave. Every lift of his haggered legs made him wish for home. The thought of home comforted him as much as it exhausted him further, whispers of a cool breeze in the damp rain taunting him were dragging him down him down every heavy step.
The night found itself chasing dawn into the bed of the suns, the rain turned to hail as the unrelenting cold gripped his hands selfishly. Dusk made way to midnight, the cave now within sight, Link found himself in a sprint, the weather's sounds almost as loud as they were deafening. As the cave drew near so did the great white moon, its silk light bringing a faint glow to the grass beneath his feet. When he saw the entrance collapsed he found himself afixed to the home near by, the weather now slowing to a halt, the stars providing a map to guide him to a place safe from fights.
Only minutes from him, the outpost waned beneath the breeze, its now warm red glow only gave him motivation to once again sprint, his destination finally upon him. The door read his mind as it swung open, a eerily recogbizable voice called him.
It took a moment for him to call back, he had been told someone would meet him here, but he hadn't expected a princess, much less Zelda. Her soft voice coaxed out Link's shy smile, the pitter patter of the rain almost a lullaby for him to sleep to. His mind wavered as he rested on the soft cot laying next to a fire pit, the smoke pillowing out the windows. The soft voice of a friend set his mind at ease before his eyelids fell shut. His dreams were all but gone now, nightmares stalked his mind, the battles of long past still lingered in his mind, he lay haunted in his dreams, sleep almost always cut short by the visions of battles long passed, they jolted him awake. His mind held the scars that ran most deeply, the hope of a normal life had evaded him.
A scream echoed in the dark as a soldier begged for the life of a man without a fate to batte for his people, to be one of the people who he could no longer be. A young woman simply sat next to a boy whos lonliness had aged him before he was old enough to live on his own, a man her own age. In time he could smile again, and she would find him a reason to she thought to herself. Both of them stared silently out the window, a young man holding back tears, the bittersweet taste of joy and anger welling up in his throaf made him feel like a freak, and still someone had taken his embrace, a embrace to a child who never got to cry. It didn't long for tears to escape, the shaking in his breath let him feel human for once, his light in life silently wrapping her arms around him. For once he had someone who embraced his faults and failures, because beneath the tears were old scars now healing, and for the first time in too long those battles felt worthwhile again.
