BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

Snooze.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BE-

"I chose the most annoying ringtone for my alarm. "

The sheets were carelessly tossed aside, falling onto the floor. The bed creaked slightly and mumbled curses were said. A few moments of silence passed before a small sigh escaped from her lips," Do I really need an education?"

Finally getting out of bed and taking a look in the mirror, she patted her face," Why do I always look like I got run over by a truck in the mornings?"

She teared herself away from the mirror and trudged to the bathroom. Her legs felt like lead, a side effect of not-a-morning-personitis. She cut the water on for her shower and waited for it to get warm. Her eyes still felt heavy and were ready to give out on her once more, but quickly hopped in so the water could wake her up. One refreshing shower later and she was wide awake and slightly less irritated. Next stop, closet.

"What will my not so fashionable self grace the people with today? Let's stick with the signature blue," without any hesitation she pulled out a blue long sleeved shirt and a white puffy vest along with her trusty boots. One change of clothes and ponytail later she checked herself out in the mirror one more time.

"Korra! Breakfast's ready! Better hurry before you're late!"

"Oh shit!"

"I heard that!"

Grabbing her bag she made her way into the kitchen and practically threw herself onto one of the chairs. She snagged a plate and filled it up with food that she gobbled down in minutes.

"Honey, slow down or else you'll end up choking on your food," her mother scowled.

"Well then I guess I'm lucky enough to have a nurse as my mother," she smiled cheekishly.

"Don't talk with your mouth full," Korra's smile turned into a pout and her mother chuckled," I'm teasing. I'm off to work so don't forget to lock the door on your way out. Your father may or may not drop by to see how you're doing after his meeting. I love you; have a good day at school."

And with that she was alone. After another serving of food, she finally washed her plate and made sure everything was ok before leaving the house. She hopped into her black Chevy Cobalt and tried to make her way school. Places are hard to get to when you barely remember where it's at, but lady luck was with her and got her there in the nick of time. She took a few breaths to try and calm her nerves," No big deal, Korra. It's just your first day here. What could possibly go wrong other than everything?"

She got out and took in the scene before her. Nothing out of the ordinary, just your typical cliche' cliques. She could feel all the stares she was getting and shrugged it off, but she couldn't help but feel out of place. It's dumb, right? To think of something like that. Maybe some time would help ease her nerves, adjust to the new setting. Once you move out of a place you've called home for sixteen years and into somewhere so... different. It's just natural to feel out of place. Right?

After making her way inside she tried so hard to find the office without having to ask anyone, and thankfully she didn't have to. A little guess work goes a long way sometimes. She quietly opened the door and noticed the room had a strange smell to it. Was that-

"Hey, want some pizza?" She jumped. Standing beside her was a man with a slice of pepperoni pizza in his hand. Where did he come from? Spirits only knows where. She nodded her head yes and he lead her to his desk," Cheese or pep?"

"Um, cheese, if you don't mind, Mr?"

"Shifuda. Here you go. Pizza is the best anytime food," he took another bite of his pizza and took a closer look at her," You're the new student aren't you? Korra, right?"

"Yeah, that would be me," she smiled sheepishly.

"Great! I have your papers and everything ready for you! Let me get you your schedule first," he turned his chair around and started fumbling through some papers," Aha! Let's see what your first class is. Yeesh, Math. What kind of monster schedules Math to be the first period? I'm barely capable of doing work in the mornings. Anyways, once you get out of the office take a left and another left. It's going to be the second door on your right. Locker number is on there and yeah that's basically it. Want another slice of pizza before you endure mathematical torture?"

She giggled in response and was given another slice. Maybe things weren't going to be so bad after all," You're not the typical kind of secretary are you?"

"Nope. I'm the much more fun, good looking kind," he grinned at her and comedically ran his fingers through his black hair. Now that she actually looked at him, he was kind of good looking especially in that white button up he was wearing. His brown eyes were captivating and his cheesy grin was kind of cute. To be honest, he kind of reminded her of Uncle Jessie from Full House," I know, I know. My charm has captured your heart just the like the rest of the female population on this campus. Unfortunately, I'm off the market, but I'm sure there are some decent candidates for you though their hair won't be as good as mine."

She feigned hurt and put her hand to her heart," Oh, I'm not sure if I'll ever get over this heartbreak, but I will try."

He chuckled," I like you. Nice sense of humor. Now get going before you're late. Galeski is a pain if you're late."

As she left the office she skimmed over her schedule, memorizing the times for each class. She'd probably be on time for the first few weeks, might be late by a few minutes afterwards. She wasn't perfect. She took the left turn as instructed without her eyes leaving the paper and bumped into something solid, her papers flying to the floor.

"Oh, sorry! I didn't watch where I was going!" she apologized, quickly reaching for the papers on the floor, but was beat to it. The stranger she had bumped into had already picked them up for her and carefully handed them back to her.

"No, it's ok! I tend to do that a lot myself," his smile faded and turned into a look of curiosity," I haven't seen you around here before. Are you new or are there just so many kids at this school that I miss a few faces?"

She smiled and nervously scratched the back of her neck," No, I'm new. Today is my first day actually. I was on my way to my first class. Uhm, Galeski's Math class?"

His face brightened up and his smile grew," I'm on my way there now! Come on, we can walk their together. This is pretty exciting. We don't really get a lot of new students around here."

"Why is that?"

He shrugged," Dunno really."

The walk was short, but the class was extremely long and pure torture. It took all of Korra's willpower to stay awake. Who ever thought that a teacher as monotone and boring as this one was a good idea? Who hired this guy, seriously. She could give a better lesson than this guy and she knew lick shit about Math. She should've just skipped and said she lost her way. Perfectly good "new kid" excuse, right? She would glance around the classroom every now and then to see what everyone was up to. Kids were either on the verge of falling asleep or already asleep, Bolin being one of the sleepers. Others were either on their phones or quietly whispering to one another. After the bell rung everyone ran out so fast you'd think there was a fire.

"That class is death by lecture," Bolin said grabbing his face," I don't think I can survive the rest of the semester."

"Exaggerate much? You've survived two years so far I'm sure you can survive two more."

"What's next on your agenda?"

She pulled out her schedule from her pocket," Uh, looks like Gym is next. Mind showing me where that's at?"

"I'd be glad to escort you malady," he linked his arm with hers as she playfully rolled her eyes," Just let ole Bolin be your guide."

Gym. Running, physical exercise, participating, moving. Things she had a love-hate relationship with. More hate than love. The coach had such a loud voice that she was sure China could probably hear him. Today it was only a game of volleyball, competitive douche bags against girls. At least the girls were actually trying, but only because they got tired of listening to the boys taunts.

Of course they're losing! Girls practically suck at sports!

Are you guys even trying?

Of course not all of them were douche bags. So far it was five to four, this was the one to determine the winners. The boys served, the ball fell into the girls court. One of the girls from the back hit it as hard as she could, but not hard enough. One of the girls near the front hit it before it could hit the net and spiked it. The boys huddled together to try and stop it from hitting the ground and were almost unsuccessful. Almost. It came back to the other side and Korra tagged team with another girl to spike it back. Korra hit it towards her allowing the girl to score the winning spike. The girls' cheers echoed throughout the gym as the boys muttered curses and groans.

"That was some complete bull. Y'all just got lucky," she heard one of them shout.

Another girl snorted," Oh, please. You're just mad that we won."

"Like I said, nothing but luck."

"No need to be such a sore loser about it. Just admit we won fair and square."

He scoffed," When pigs fly!"

Korra put her hand on her hip and smirked," Guess you should start drinking Redbull then. I heard it gives you wings."

A chorus of giggles and laughter erupted behind her. He didn't seem to find it too funny as his hands lit up.

Firebender, huh? No problem. Game on.

Just as she was getting ready herself someone stepped in front of him," Calm down already. It's just a game not the Olympics."

He glared at him, contemplating whether or not he should just go ahead and roast him too. His hands reverted back to normal and walked towards the locker room, but not without purposely shoving Korra on his way.

"You know, for a new student you sure had some gut to say that to him," she jumped out of her skin as she turned around to see the boy from before.

"I could've taken him on anyways," she huffed.

"Hey, I was just trying to help, ok?" his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. What was her problem? He was only helping her out and here she is getting mad about it? A thank you wouldn't hurt.

"Your help wasn't necessary. I can take care of myself," she crossed her arms as she defiantly looked into those angry amber eyes. What does she look like? A damsel in distress? This wasn't some Disney movie. She wasn't a princess in need of saving from the big, bad monster. Daddy didn't raise no weakling.

"You're unbelievable."

"Well, believe it."

"I give. Last time I try to help anyone," he muttered.

Korra uncrossed her arms and stomped off to the locker room to change out.

Who does this guy think he is? Prince Charming? Yeah, right! Well... Maybe I was overreacting a bit. I mean he was just trying to help... Still! I had it all under control! Some help!

So, hopefully this rewrite seems better than the original? Sorry for any mess ups in the writing. I added in a few things, changed up some scenes, probably took some things out. I dunno. Let me know what you guys think. That is if anyone actually stuck around after what? 3-4 years of no updates? Well, either way, if you're out there be sure to check for anymore rewrites!

Catch ya later!
