So, I have no idea where this came from, I was just on the internet and WHAM! I got hit with Castle inspiration. I don't think that's very bad though.
Sadly, I do not own Castle. I don't even have any of the seasons on DVD.
Rick Castle was bored. His girlfriend, Kate, was working on paperwork at her desk and he was just sitting there. He would usually be watching her, but he knew that she didn't like that, so he was doing her a favor and not annoying her for a whole day.
He was pretty sure that Ryan and Esposito had a pool on whether or not he could do it.
Rick was leaning back in his chair when he caught sight of the window. It was dark out, typical New York in the winter, but that wasn't what grabbed his attention. It was raining.
He had always loved rain, always needing to go out and play in it. He glanced back at Kate, who was engrossed in her work.
Maybe he could slip away unnoticed.
He turned away from Kate, quietly got up, and quickly ran to the elevator. He didn't look back to see if Kate saw him, and Ryan and Esposito had already left for the day. In typical Beckett fashion, Kate had to stay forever after she was needed, and Rick was not about to leave her there, where she might end up pulling an all-nighter. That was the last thing she needed.
The elevator ride seemed to take an eternity; Rick was left tapping his foot and playing with his phone during the short ride.
After what seemed like an hour, the elevator got down to the ground floor. He slipped past the doorman, who had fallen asleep, and ran out into the rain.
Oh, how he loved the rain. He ran and jumped. He twirled and danced. He let go of the man that took things seriously (if there was ever a part of him that took things seriously) and he was just there. Happy and there. He smiled and danced some more.
Kate was doing her work when she suddenly felt that there was something different about the precinct. She turned in her chair and saw that Castle's chair was halfway to the elevator.
Then she too caught sight of the window. She smiled, he always did love rain.
She packed up her things and grabbed her coat, leaving her paperwork for the next morning. She headed down to the ground floor.
She gently shook the doorman awake, and he said, "Evening, Beckett."
She waved and walked out the door. Even though it was dark and damp, she could still make out the shape of an adult man dancing around in the rain.
She leaned against the building, content to just watch her boyfriend enjoy the weather.
After a few minutes, Rick saw something in the shadows. He immediately stopped dancing, not wanting to let the something know he was there.
He cautiously approached the building, figuring out that the something was his girlfriend as he got closer.
"How much of that did you see?" he called out.
"Enough to know that Martha is the dancer in the family, not you," she called back.
"How did you know I was gone?"
She smiled. "I'm a detective, Castle. I know everything."
So, I have no idea where that came from, but I am glad that it hit me because I had no ideas for a oneshot. Sadly.
Review please!
