Just a litte fic to get you in the festive spirit (hopefully). Enjoy!
Ever year was the same.
Howard sighed, as Vince pranced gleefully along the decorations isle of the shop, picking up insignificant pieces of this and that.
'Vince, I told you, we already have too much tinsel. You cant move for the stuff, last year Naboo stood still too long and got wrapped up with the Christmas tree.'
'That weren't my fault, he was wearing that dark green turban of his, he just blended in!'
Howard looked down at his list for the umpteenth time. By now the words had begun to blur together, and he was so worn out by shopping that he would have liked nothing more than to go home and crash on the sofa in front of some trash TV. But they still had stuff to get.
Thankfully, they'd already bought most of what they needed – Howard was useless at buying presents, so he just let Vince pick out everything, even his own present from Topshop, and Howard just paid for it. Vince on the other hand, was great at present shopping, and had said that he knew exactly what to get Howard. However, Howard didn't raise his hopes much – usually Vince bought him presents that he wanted for himself, but was unable to justify buying.
He studied the list again. 'We still need to find something for Bollo. And I don't know what to get for Tara.'
'You're getting Tara a present?'
'Yeah. Aren't you?'
'Of course I am, I'm her brother, I just didn't expect you to.' He turned and smiled. 'She'll really appreciate it.'
Howard nodded. Vince grinned cheekily. 'You gonna get anything for Old Gregg?'
'Shut up.'
'Come on, he sent you that watercolour of him in the Mrs Claus outfit!' he giggled. Howard hastily changed the subject.
'What d'you recon I should get for Bollo?'
'I'm getting him those drumsticks that make noises, like a drum kit but much cheaper. You could get him that new saucepan he's been after.'
'A saucepan?'
'Yeah, he says the old one's all scratched and rubbish.'
'Vince, I'm not getting him a saucepan. That's the sort of present that married couples who have nothing left to talk about give to each other.'
'Alright, it was only a suggestion.'
They eventually got everything they needed, and Christmas rolled around as it did every year, and the lads gathered around the Christmas tree. Naboo was thrilled with the tickets for Fleetwood Mac, and Bollo seemed pleased with the new headphones Howard had finally been persuaded into buying for him, for DJ-ing with.
It came time for Howard to open his present from Vince. It was very thin. Great he thought, another Bowie LP.
He tore off the wrapping, and was speechless. Staring up at him was the face of Dave 'Eyebrows' Kochanski, on the cover of an extremely rare and pricey album.
'Vince..' Howard breathed. 'Where on earth did you get this?'
'I saw you eyeing it up the other week. Is it alright?'
'It's incredible.' He replied, still staring at it in disbelief.
'It was nothing'' Vince shrugged modestly.
Howard finally looked up from the record, to Vince. 'Thank you.'
Every year had been the same. This year was different.
Hope you liked that, please review and have a great Christmas!
