A/N: Hey every one this is a do-over of a song-fic I had up awhile ago. I was rereading it and noticed some mistakes – hopefully I caught all the glaring ones! So I am sorry if you are enduring this again. I wrote it before DH came out so it is now AU I guess. But Enjoy!
He had never been to a concert. He had told her that music playing at her house all the time, country music, was horrible; but Hermione knew that certain songs got to him. She could see it in his eyes.
They had gone to America for 2 weeks in the summer, before they set out on a journey that would change their live forever. A country festival had been on down the road from their hotel so they decided to go, standing in the crowd as the first lyrics started he looked over at her.
Every now and then
I get a little lost
The strings all get tangled
The wires all get crossed
Every now and then
I'm right upon the edge
Danglin' my toes out over the ledge
I just thank God you're here
He smiled, but just slightly, there was no way that there would be a song, a twang-y one at that could say how he felt about her. But this guy, this guy in a cowboy hat was good. His words fit their relationship so perfectly. How many times had he gotten lost about what to do and she turned up? When he wanted to give up and she got him to pull through. It was like every thought that the boy felt for the girl was out there now, with one look at her he knew it would change them.
'Cause when I'm a bullet shot out of a gun
'Cause when I'm a firecracker comin' undone
When I'm a fugitive ready to run
All wild-eyed and crazy
No matter where my reckless soul takes me
Baby you save me
Every single time he lashed out at her, she took it and yelled right back. Their fights were a regular thing and she would always find a way to crawl under his skin before he was ready to give up. Yet, whenever he needed her she was there.
She turned to face him and tilted her head, he took it as an invitation and for the first time, pulled her into his arms when she wasn't crying. It felt right.
It's hard lovin' a man
That's got a gypsy soul
I don't know how you do it
I'm not sure how you know
The perfect thing to say
To save me from myself
You're the angel that believes in me
Like nobody else
And I thank God you do
'Cause when I'm a bullet shot out of a gun
'Cause when I'm a firecracker comin' undone
When I'm a fugitive ready to run
All wild-eyed and crazy
No matter where my reckless soul takes me
Baby you save me
He realised it know, he needed her. He needed her to be his stone, to tell him when he was wrong, when he was being a prat, he needed her there to believe in him. She slipped her hand and from his and wound her arms around his middle resting her head under his chin. This is where she belonged, he wanted her there and if he couldn't say it he hoped she knew.
Well I know I don't tell you nearly enough
I couldn't live one day without your love
And she did know.
When I'm a ship tossed around on the waves
Up on a high wire that's ready to break
When I've had just about all I can take
Baby, you,
Baby you save me
As the song ended he pulled away and smiled down at her. The rest of the concert her hand stayed in his.
Months later they were still holding hands as they sat by the bed of their best friend. All of them injured a bit, exhausted; their journey over.
"He did it, he saved us Ron," She said.
Ron turned to Hermione. "Baby, you saved me."
A/N: Now to me Ron seems a bit OOC on the last line, for some reason I can't picture him calling Hermione baby. But it fits with the song do I'm just going to live with it.
Thanks for reading, hoped you liked it somewhat, and if you don't well... I guess you don't!
