CHAPTER 1: CHAMPION OF PEACE
8:30PM, JUNE 8TH ? AS
Green Plains, a few kilometers away from Station Square.
Across the green grass plains now littered with smoking scraps of metal stood a cobalt blue mobian hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog, he stood with an expression that spoke hatred and anger as he glared towards his metal counterpart. His counterpart, his crimson eyes glaring back at the original, was ready to fight one more time against his rival.
A shadow suddenly casted over both, a titanic battleship hovered over the battlefield where they stood, the face of a magnificently intelligent doctor of destruction marked on the sides of the battleship.
The hedgehog would stare up with his eyes narrowed, "Guess I'll have to finish up quickly then... " He muttered, lowering his gaze and staring at his metal rival.
He'd clench his fists, sliding his left foot back. "Alright, Metal. Let's finish this up, shall we?" His counterpart would nod, sliding his own left foot back, mirroring him. And then, the two rivals boosted across the distance they had between them with magnificent speed, the ground beneath both blowing apart into a crater. Their fists met, a powerful shockwave blasting from their fists. They'd mirror each other perfectly, pulling their fists back and crossing each other's leg as they attempted to kick each other.
With incredible speed, they parted from their meeting point and boosted across the battlefield, clashing and destroying the battlefield itself. Dirt and smoke launched into the air with every clash. Sonic would grit his teeth, seeing he was losing time here, he had to finish off Metal quickly. He sent a quick glance at the ship, where his arch-nemesis was.
The ship was moving quickly towards Station Square, no doubt he was planning on annihilating the city like he tried before with the missile, it seems the mad doctor was not playing around this time around. Sonic would speed up, following the battleship, he had to stop Eggman now.
His counterpart on the other hand had other plans, Metal would boost towards Sonic with an immense amount of speed, sending a roundhouse into Sonic's back. The blue blur was sent crashing and skidding across the ground before eventually slamming hard into a tree.
Sonic would grunt in pain as he stood up to meet his rival's fist, crashing right into his face. The hedgehog was sent back a couple feet again, before slamming into the ground. Metal Sonic approached, clenching his fists… then another fist crashed into Metal's faceplate, shattering it. Metal flew into a nearby hillside, creating a crater.
Sonic would slowly open his eyes, seeing his other rival and good friend standing in front of him. "Well. if it isn't the red devil himself... " He'd chuckle, before coughing. Knuckles the Echidna would scoff before helping his blue rival up to his feet.
"You're taking your time with Metal I see." He'd comment, glancing over towards the crater where the robot lay. "Well, you see he... is a lot stronger than before," Sonic would reply, wiping some dirt of his shoulders "It's like he got some power-boost or somethin' like that." Knuckles' eyes would narrow as he glared at the currently disabled robot. "Some power-boost didn't stop me from knockin' him out, anyway, we got to move." The echidna would glance at the battleship which was close to the city, "Right, got the Chaos Emeralds?" Sonic asked, "Yeah, now let's get going." Knuckles would bolt after the ship, Sonic following after.
"Where is Silver right now?" Sonic asked, running beside Knuckles.
"He'll be here, soon." Knuckles answered, speeding off towards Station Square.
In the Egg-carrier, the main battleship of the Dr. Ivo Robotnik's fleet, was the man himself. He was staring down at the city as his ships warped into the airspace, bombarding the city and its people below.
"Sir, Metal Sonic has been disabled." One of his robotic officers announced, glancing over at the doctor. The doctor would growl before letting out a soft sigh, "No matter, he did his part… continue on with operation Ivo Judicii… " He commanded, the officer nodding in response. The doctor continued to stare down as the city went up in magnificent flames, a badnik fighter squadron would fly past the bridge of the Egg-carrier before diving low for a bombing run.
The doctor hummed, scratching his chin. He was very pleased with how things were going so far, despite Metal Sonic's unfortunate defeat. Soon, after Station Square's destruction he'd build his fortress over the ruin.
The world powers would learn to fear the doctor. In secret, he had reconstructed his deadliest weapon, Luna Exterminatore which was previously known as the Death-egg. If the world-powers decided to fight him, he would humor them… but he had the weapon that would undoubtedly destroy them all if they did not follow his demands after this 'false war'. Eggman smiled, before laughing, he would humor them with a false war, before breaking them all down.
Another badnik fighter squadron flew past the bridge, they continued for a while before bursting into balls of flame. His smile would turn into a frown, what had just happened?
"Sir, we are detecting two powerful energy signatures, one has gone deeper into the city and one of them… is directly in front of us." The doctor would raise a brow, before staring through the window. In the distance, there was a golden glow with a brilliant aura radiating around it…
The doctor glanced at a monitor, opening one of the ship exterior cameras. He zoomed in on the golden glow… it was Sonic in his Super form.
The doctor's frown would morph into a furious glare. "How the hell did that hedgehog restore the Emeralds… ?" He growled, his fists clenching. "ALL SHIP CANNONS, OPEN FIRE ON THAT DAMNED HEDGEHOG!" He commanded, he wanted that hedgehog destroyed once and for all. The Egg-carrier's cannons ceased fire on the city below and aimed at Sonic.
Sonic's brows would furrow, he'd clench his fists before bursting forward towards the ship with immense speed, leaving a golden trail behind him.
He'd expertly dodge all the cannon fire that came his way, diving down onto the ship. With finesse, he'd boost into the cannons, destroying them with his speed and power. He curls into concussive ball, bouncing off turrets whilst destroying them. He spindashes into a squadron of badniks that were deployed to intercept him, ripping them apart as he continued.
He'd uncurl, flying up towards the bridge with his right fist reeled back. He was face-to-face with Eggman who was on the other side of the window, his expression showed fear and anger.
Time began to slow down; Sonic was about to finally finish off the insane tyrannical doctor who had plagued the planet for so many years. He was hoping things wouldn't have to end this way for the doctor, deep down Sonic always thought it was his fault the doctor became like this… one experiment gone wrong.
Seconds before Sonic would've crashed through the bridge to finish off the mad doctor, seconds before Sonic would've avenged all of his friends who had fell along the way- A Metal fist crashed into his face, sending him flying into the city below, crashing through multiple buildings before eventually meeting the ground.
Metal Sonic was still functional and was not about to let his counterpart win again. Metal glances towards his creator, before going after his rival.
Sonic would grunt, levitating off the crater he lay in. He glared up seeing his counterpart staring down at him. "You just do not know when to give up, don't you Metal?" Sonic's fists would clench, "You of all people should know that I don't give up easily… I am you, after all." Metal replied, his voice low and menacing. Sonic would levitate up, facing Metal. "This world is not big enough for the both of us, one of us have to go."
Metal said, his core began to hum loudly as he powered up. "Metal, you don't always have to follow his orders… once he builds something better than you, you'll be scrapped for extra parts!" Sonic argued, Metal on the other hand only chuckled, "Hm… it seems I've developed emotions, I'm happy Sonic. You've made me chuckle." Metal would glance up at the Egg-carrier which resumed bombardment.
"After he finishes off this city and gets what he wants… I'll finish him off." He stated; this making Sonic's eyes widen with surprise. "He's a threat to my own plans, once I'm done with him… this world is mine!" Metal charged towards sonic, fists reeled back. Sonic quickly sent a jab forward, his own fist meeting Metal's. Another shockwave erupted from their fists, shattering multiple windows on the buildings surrounding them.
They once again clashed, Super Sonic and a powered-up Metal Sonic duking It out across a ravaged Station Square.
Knuckles on the other hand had snuck aboard the Egg-carrier, searching for the stolen Master Emerald. He was sensing it, trying to track down it's exact location. On the way however, he had unfortunately encountered a roadblock. It was a Shadow Android… that bastard Eggman had cloned Shadow before finishing him off. The Android would stare at Knuckles, before bolting towards him.
Knuckles quickly raised his fist, blocking a jab for his face. The echidna quickly sent a right hook for the Android's exposed face, only for the Android to vanish in a quick flash of white. Knuckles' eyes widen, before sensing a chaos energy flare up behind him. He quickly turns around only to have a fist slam hard into his face, he flew down the corridor, before quickly getting back up. The two ran each other, their fists meeting again.
They then sent a flurry of kicks and punches each other, both dodging each other's attacks or blocking it with their own strike.
The corridor would begin to rip apart as they continued their fight, Knuckles was losing time as he continued to fight the Android. He'd disengage, flying backwards a few meters, before running down a separate path. The Android would pursue him.
Meanwhile in the city Super Sonic kept on clashing with Metal, their fight having been taking up into the orange-tinted evening sky. The clouds parted with every clash they made, thunder booming across the sky as the shot across the sky. Sonic was losing energy as the fight carried on, he was starting to slip up, Metal on the other hand only kept getting faster they fought. Sonic would make a dive for the city, trying to lose him down there. Metal would follow Sonic, zigzagging through the city, making quick turns as he pursued his counterpart.
Sonic would suddenly lose his Super Form, his fur returning to cobalt blue. His eyes widened as he suddenly fell towards the ruined streets below. He'd curl into a ball, spindashing as he met the ground. He'd quickly uncurl, seeing Metal quickly approach. He then felt a new surge of energy; his eyes would widen even more in shock as he glanced down at his glowing hands. "Knuckles finally reached the Master Emerald... " He then looked towards the approaching Metal. His quills would raise, a powerful aura radiating around the hedgehog. "Chaos… CONTROL!" He'd shout, a burst of light emitting from him.
As the light died down, Sonic was no longer there. Metal would halt, looking around before detecting an energy signature from the Egg-carrier. He'd turn, flying towards it.
Knuckles had reached the Master Emerald, which was good, but he still had that annoying Shadow Android going after him. He kept dodging strikes that was being sent at him by the Android, he was being put on the defensive this time. He blocked a jab, before sending a left hook into the Android, knocking it aside.
He felt a chaos energy surge and turned to see Sonic hovering by the Master Emerald in his Hyper Form. "Took your sweet time, Knucklehead!" Hyper Sonic would descend, standing beside the red brawler. "Came across a roadblock." Knuckles replied, glancing at the Android who got back on its feet. Hyper Sonic turned to the Android, before boosting towards it. Sonic sent a quick chop into it's back, knocking it down. Sonic turned, walking towards the Master Emerald.
He then felt a spike of chaos energy, he turned around seeing the Android had fired a chaos spear his way. He raised his arms to block the attack, only to feel nothing come his way. He glanced up seeing the spear had been stopped midair and the Android had been knocked out.
"What the... ?" Sonic muttered. "Am I late?" another voice called out, Sonic turned and found Silver floating by the Master Emerald, having ripped a hole through the hull with his powers to enter. "Fashionably late" Sonic answered with a smile, before turning to the Master Emerald.
"Alright, let's get this thing back to the alter… " He said, "Sonic, we'll have to do more than that." Knuckles said, his tone taking a solemn turn. Sonic turned, glancing at his old rival. "What, why?" He asked, raising a brow. "Sonic, Eggman is just going to continue trying to get the Emerald, we'll have to do more this time around… Everyone we've ever known is gone, Shadow, Amy, Rouge, Sally and Tails… " Sonic would frown, the memory of them hurt him, but also drove him forward. "Eggman has grown powerful, we're outmatched and we're out of options, we can't keep fighting him forever."
Sonic remained silent, before turning to the Master Emerald. "What do we do now… ?" He asked, his breath hitched. Knuckles looked at Silver and Sonic before sighing, "One of us will have to go back and try to prevent all of this from ever happening." He said. Sonic remained silent, staring down. Knuckles then glanced towards Silver, "Silver, you're the strongest out of all of us, we don't have much left in us to make a difference in past but you do." Silver stared at Knuckles wide-eyed. Knuckles walked towards the Master Emerald. He placed his hand against it, the Emerald started to glow magnificently. Suddenly, a being materialized atop of the Emerald, floating above it. Sonic glanced at this new figure, he recognized it… her.
Knuckles glanced up at the being he called for, "We're out of time, We're out of options… the world we fought for is about to end is going to be replaced with a new one ruled by Eggman… this is the future Silver came back to stop and we failed." The being glanced down at the two. "Tikal, you have to help us… if we do not restart, if we do not-" Tikal raised her hand, silencing them both. "I understand the situation, I've heard you all speak… but understand Sonic and Knuckles… if I do this, you two as you are now will cease to exist." Sonic stared at the Emerald, before sighing. He turned to face Knuckles, who in turn faced him as well. "I will go back with the Master Emerald of our time, the energy will take a lot out of me... so I'll not be as powerful as I am now when I arrive in the past."
"What we're about to do will destroy the future that could've been, so... things are going to happen differently this time." Silver said with a hint of hope, turning to the Master Emerald. "I'm going to do it." He said, determined.
They'd nod, before gazing up at Tikal. "Do it." They said at the same time. Tikal solemnly nodded, before closing her eyes. The Master Emerald began to glow brighter, large amounts of energy radiating off it. Suddenly, the door to the chamber burst open. Knuckles and Sonic turned to see Metal Sonic standing at the doorway. Knuckles and Sonic glanced at each other, before getting ready to fight. The two parties clashed, the Master Emerald behind them getting brighter.
"Sir, we're detecting a massive energy surge from the Master Emerald chamber, it's the Emerald!" Eggman turned, his brows raised. Suddenly, the Egg-carrier shook. "It's tearing the ship apart!" The officer said. "No... NO!" Eggman said, realizing it must be Sonic's work. "Get down there and stop it!" Squadrons of badniks rushed down to the Master Emerald chamber.
Hyper Sonic kept up the battle against Metal Sonic, Knuckles had been knocked aside and was out for the count. Metal was proving to be a very powerful foe for the champion of peace. Their fists met a final time, a shockwave erupting from it. Gusts of wind blew around them as they continued to power up, Sonic's aura radiating more power off it. The two identical hedgehogs stared as they played a game of endurance and strength, pushing their fists harder onto each other.
Metal Sonic would send a knee up into Sonic's gut, the sheer force of the attack sending Sonic spiraling backwards into the a wall. Sonic would slowly get up, grunting in pain as he reverted back to base form
Sonic then flashed one of his cocky smiles one last time, as he felt the Master Emeralds energy about to burst. "Alright... Silver, Tikal, do it do it!"
Silver turned, running to the Master Emerald. He'd slam the palm of his hand onto it.
"CHAOS CONTROL!" He'd shout, instantly vanish in a brief flash of light.
A brilliant light burst from the Emerald, engulfing the chamber in seconds.
Right outside, the badnik squadrons were about to enter, but were soon engulfed as well. Eggman was about to head down there himself, but saw all interior cameras had been wiped, each of them disabled. He then glanced at the door seeing a bright light phase through it. "NOOO!" He was engulfed.
The light had taken the ship and was now taking Station Square.
After it took Station Square, it took the country.
Then the Continent.
Then the Planet.
The Galaxy.
The Universe.
History was about to be rewritten…. And perhaps, the future as well.
12:15PM, JUNE 8TH 219 AS
Etra, home to the Mobian and the Overlanders which are also known as simply as Humans.
For many, many years the Mobians have coexisted alongside the Humans, living together in peace. While there were people who despised the Mobians and vice versa, Etra had no major conflicted in many years.
However, in recent times conflict was a common thing. All thanks to one man called Dr. Ivo Kintobor, or simply known as Dr. Eggman.
Dr. Eggman is a brilliant scientist with an IQ 300, despite his great intelligence, his ideals are not things to be praised, his goals are dark and his methods to reaching those goals are darker. He would've taken over Etra had it not been for The Resistance, led by none other than who people call the Champion of Peace; Sonic the Hedgehog, the fastest thing alive.
Sonic had been a thorn in Dr. Eggman ever since his childhood, fighting alongside his comrades to protect freedom and stop them evil doctor from taking over Etra.
Most Mobians and Overlanders set aside the differences and united against their common threat.
They still fight against Eggman 'til this day.
A red bi-plane flew over the green hills, piloted by none other than Sonic's best friend, Miles 'Tails' Prower. A Genius two-tailed fox with an IQ to rival that of Dr. Eggman's and he is only a kid. The fox was on his way to the site of a battle, a battle between his blue friend and their arch-nemesis.
"I hope I'm not too late... " The fox muttered, glancing at the radar every now and then, he'd do a double take, noticing a sudden spike of energy on the radar. His eyes narrowed, he would glance around, wondering what was going on.
Suddenly, a burst of light would briefly flash above tails before disappearing.
The light left behind a large, wrecked ship which was quickly descending towards the ground. Tails would shriek, quickly swerving to the side and flying off as quick as the plane could go. He luckily dodged the crashing ship by inches, the ship doing a nose-dive.
It would slam into the ground, bursting into flame.
As Tails flew, he glanced down at the smoking wreck with his mouth agape and widened eyes. "Oh my god… " he'd mutter, he was shocked, where did the ship come from. As he flew around, he noticed something on the side of the ship that took him by surprise.
It was Eggman's Logo, on the side of the ship.
It was the Egg-carrier.
"Everyone is going to want to see this… " He said, before going back on course to Sonic.
Meanwhile, the blue blur was dodging bullet-fire, swerving left and right and performing spins and tricks as he took down badniks one by one with his iconic spindash move. He'd come to a sudden stop right in front of a badnik, he'd quickly turn and start running as a gust of wind blew into him and the badnik.
The wind slammed hard into the robot, ripping it apart whilst Sonic was able to withstand it. He'd flash his cocky smile, directing his attention towards his nemesis. "So, is that all ya got against me Egghead?" He'd fold his arms, wagging his finger. "I thought you said you'd had somethin' that would 'destroy me for good'." He said, using air-quotes.
Eggman would growl, his brows furrowing as he almost crushed the handles of his egg-mobile. "Just you wait Sonic, you'll be six foot under soon!"
"Yeaaaah, you've said that many times over the years!" Sonic would curl into a ball, before boosting forward towards the egg-mobile.
Sonic never made it to the egg-mobile, as his ever so annoying metal counterpart intercepted him at the last second, crashing into sonic with a dive-kick. Sonic flew into the ground, kicking up dirt and dust as he hit the ground.
"W-woah… yeah I felt that." Sonic said, hopping back up to his feet. He glanced up at Metal. "So, we're gonna duke it out just like always… hope you're ready to hit the junkyard again!" Sonic would hop into the air and curl into a concussive ball, he'd boost forward towards Metal with his homing attack. Metal was struck, being sent backwards a few feet. Sonic landed back on the ground and ran towards Metal. Metal would fly down towards sonic, their heads bashing against each other.
They continued to boost into each other, gusts of wind blowing around them as they kept up the push. Sonic was losing, however.
'Sonic, on your left!'
Sonic made a quick glance to his left, before disengaging with a big smile on his face. Metal quickly stopped, making sure not to slam down with the momentum he had going. Sonic would hop backwards, narrowly avoiding an energy spear that crashed into Metal. A destructive energy explosion would erupt from the point of impact, engulfing Metal Sonic completely.
Sonic turned around, smiling. "Well if it isn't Faker the Hedgehog!" He'd do a thumbs up as the black hedgehog approached, Shadow scoffed.
"How hard is it to deal with a metal tin can?" Shadow asked, glancing towards Sonic. "Pffft, I totally had him!" Sonic quickly responded. Shadow would sigh, before glancing over at Eggman.
"Alright Doctor, this is the part where you hand the Chaos Emeralds back to us." Eggman would simply chuckle, "As if I'm going to do that, you think two pesky hedgehogs will be enough to-" Sonic would burst
into a fit of laughter, "O-One blue hedgehog was enough t-to hold of your plans… of world conquest ever since he was a kid!" Sonic would slap his knee.
Eggman's fists would clench, he'd glare at sonic with fire in his eyes. "Ohoho… This blue pesky hedgehog will meat his end soon enough!" Sonic would compose himself, inhaling deeply as he let out a final chuckle. "Are you done?" Shadow asked, "Yeah, all done!" Sonic responded with a smile.
Shadow turned to the doctor, "Well, then if you don't hand them over Doctor, we'll simply take them from you." Shadow's inhibitor rings began to glow red.
Eggman would lean back on his chair, smiling, "Try me, hedgehog."
Shadow would vanish, re-appearing right above Eggman with a chaos spear in his hand. "Woah- wait, Shadow!" Sonic said, seeing what Shadow was about to do.
Shadow never had the chance to throw the spear as he was met with a hard punch from Metal Sonic who had recovered from the chaos spear, the punch sent shadow spiraling into the ground beside Sonic. Sonic glanced up at Metal and Eggman. He quickly curls up into a ball, charging up a spindash.
He burst upwards with a boost of speed, knocking himself into the egg-mobile. Eggman would yelp, the egg-mobile being rocked backwards.
3 of the Emeralds were launched out of the egg-mobile, landing beside Shadow who was on one knee. Shadow would grab the Emeralds, absorbing them.
Shadow glanced over towards Sonic, who had landed not too far from him.
"Grr! Metal, retreat!" He said, turning and flying off with the egg-mobile. Metal Sonic would stare down at Sonic before flying off after the doctor. Sonic turned to Shadow. "So, 3 Emeralds is better than none, right?" He'd shrug, Shadow sighed would, turning around. "I'll go bring the Emeralds to G.U.N, they'll put them under tight security."
Sonic blinked, raising a finger, "So, we're not gonna put 'em back on Angel Island?" Shadow turned, scowling "And give Eggman a free chance at stealing them again, are you serious Sonic?" Sonic would laugh nervously, shrugging, "I mean, it is Knuckles' duty to protect the Master Emerald and it's lil' siblings."
He walked beside Shadow, "Well then he is a horrible Guardian, how many times has the Master Emerald been stolen?" Shadow would fold his arms, "Uhhh… I only remember this one time when we were kids-" "You still act like a kid." Shadow interrupted, before walk away.
"Hey, I don't act at all like a kid!" Sonic shouted as Shadow shook his head walking away, "Edgelord… " Sonic muttered as Shadow chaos controlled away.
He was about to boost off before hearing a plane approaching, he'd look around before seeing The Tornado approaching, Tails at the cockpit.
"Hey, what's up tails!" Tails dove low, soaring above the ground "Hop on!" Tails would shout. Sonic would hop onto the wing and hung on as the plane would ascend again.
"So, I guess I missed your showdown with Eggman, didn't I?" Sonic chuckled, "Yeah, you did."
The plane would be soaring above the clouds now, "Shadow showed up right on time, I hope?" Tails asked, "Yeah he did, things went smoothly… but Metal was a pain. We got 3 of the Emeralds, Shads is bringin' 'em back to G.U.N" Tails nodded. "Sonic, this might sound very weird… " Tails began, descending now, "What's up tails?".
"On my way to you, some random flash of light appeared above me, then suddenly one of Eggman's ships appeared above me. I flew to the side, missing it by just a few inches… you will not believe how battered up it was!" Sonic blinked, raising a brow "One of Eggman's ships, and it's all wrecked to?" He asked, "Yeah! I thought it was extremely weird, I mean… could this be some type of test by the doctor gone wrong?" Sonic would scratch his chin, "Let's take a closer look at it buddy!" He said, patting Tails on the back. Tails nodded, setting the plan on full throttle.
The Tornado boosted off across the sky, towards the crash site.
