Author's Note: I just suddenly got the urge to write something like this tonight, so here it is! I haven't read the manga, so it might not follow exactly if it's any different in anime in that portion. I would greatly appreciate feedback on my work either directly to me or through a review. Thanks for reading! :)

Keiko looked towards the night sky. It was the type of sky that was common at 3 in the morning – millions of stars shining with no clouds to block their vibrant rays, and a moon that seemed billions of miles away but so close at the very same time. Every night she was up until at least 3, unable to sleep as her memories haunted her. There was one thing – rather one particular person – that shamelessly invaded her mind every night. Anyone around her could have guessed who, though they never spoke of it...
Yusuke Urameshi.
Just thinking his full name sent a chill down her spine. His name and even the very essence that he represented brought many extreme actions to Keiko's body.
Anger spreading through her frail body,
Tears falling from her bewildered eyes,
and most of all, a pain overtaking her entire soul that could not be described.
Keiko was usually patient and understanding – to most people she could still be those things, but not to him. When Yusuke left to go to the demon world he took the better part of her with him, and she knew it the second he left her house that night after he proposed to her. She did not believe his proposal when he had made it, and in fact it worsened the pain. She knew he always did things off of impulse and barely thought anything through… it was just how he was, a trait that she both loved and hated.
There were a lot of things about Yusuke she loved and hated at the same time.
But the love always outdid the hate. She always asked herself why, but could only come to the conclusion that some people touch your soul so deeply and tenderly that knowing why you adore them is impossible.
Yusuke had hardened her heart with his absence, he had left her to wait with no chance of knowing whether it would be worth it, and he had chosen demon world over a life with her.
He had done more than enough to turn her away from his very existence.
As Keiko pondered the night sky, she finally realized what her arrested body had been trying to realize since Yusuke left.
She hated the pain. She hated the waiting. She hated not knowing if he was okay. She hated that he left her. And most of all she hated how much she missed him.
But, she would do it. She would wait.
Waiting would be incredibly hard, but as much as she hated to admit it, he was worth it.
Keiko's skin was as creamy white as a swan's feathers. With her heart aimlessly pushing forward, and her eyes wide, she pulled a cover around her chilly body and sighed.
"You got me again, Yusuke," she whispered.
"The waiting continues."
