Jesse's Journal- Continuation #1

Hey everyone, I watched that show, HOUSE. The one about the pain killer addicted doctor. The last episode I saw was called "Family". It had two brothers, Nick and Matty, in basically the same predicament as Kate and Anna. Whoa, De-JA-VU. The only difference is that instead of one sibling dying, both of them survive. Nick has Leukemia, just not the same kind as Kate did. His is Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). Kate had the Sub-type of this called Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia. Both cancers attack the blood and bone marrow systems. Both are also extremely painful, and can be resistant to Chemo-therapy. That is a problem. Well Matty, the younger of the two, is an allogeneic donor. He is what Anna was to Kate. Problem was, he had an infection, and the doctors barely had any time to figure out what was wrong with him. Eventually the team finds the problem. Matty's got a fungal infection called histoplasmosis. Not only that, but it attacking the bone marrow like Nick's Leukemia, leaving Matty without the proper amount needed to save his brother's life, and allow both of them to keep playing Baseball. The doctors eventually cure Matty, and Foreman takes it upon himself to do the transplant anyway. It is successfully completed, and at the end of the episode, both brothers end up going home with the rest of their family. I will admit, I cried when I watched this episode. Not just because of the happy ending, but because it hit so close to home.

Peace out,
