Disclaimer: I do not own Michael nor do I own Ana.

A/N: This short story is a scene that was not shown in theaters [AKA: made up.] It takes place while the old lady [Nora, I believe?] is checking on Luda. The scene is probably messed up considering it's been three days since I've seen the movie and I have a short-term memory.

Ana walked around the mall alone, a gun in her left hand and a water bottle in her right. She thought about Luis and how concerned he was when he saw Vivian. Tears started to form but she choked them back. She was not going to cry. Crying showed signs of weakness and now was not the time to be weak.

Ana heard footsteps behind her; she dropped her water bottle, spun around and got ready to shoot. She sighed and let her guard down once realizing it was Michael. He smiled at her.

"Hey, don't shoot, I'm not a zombie!" Michael said, trying to joke.

"Well, you never know if a zombie is behind you or not.." Ana replied.

"Man, this is a messed up world. But you know it's kind of funny."

"How the hell is it funny?" Ana snapped.

"No, I mean that the oddest combination survived."

"But we're still slowly dying!" Ana said with a sigh. Her eyes roaming the mall. "Security guards are dicks." She added randomly.

"Except that Terry kid, he seems nice enough."

"Yeah, but C.J. and Bart, total asses." She laughed. "You know, ever since I've been here, there's a question that lingers in the back of my mind.." Ana said slowly.

"And what's that question?" Michael asked, turning to face her.

"What the hell are we doing? What's the point of trying to live? We can't out run these things."

"Ana," Michael said with a pause. "I think we're here for a reason."

"What reason is that? So we can suffer? Struggle? Watch the world die in front of us? Not that it basically hasn't died already."

Michael paused for a moment, examining Ana's features. "Ana, you never told me your story."

"What do you mean my story?" Ana said, cocking her head.

"Like, what happened to you, before you met up with me?"

"Oh, well, my husband, Louis woke up to see the little girl from next door standing in the hallway. She was a zombie I guess and she attacked him. He then died, came back, and attempted to kill me..."

"And you ran, right?" Michael asked.

"Yeah... Where are you going with this?"

"Well, if you think us trying to live is rather pointless, then why did you run?"

Ana thought about this a moment. She began walking away from him. Ana stopped, turned around and faced him. "I didn't expect it to be like this. I didn't expect the whole world to turn into zombies!"

Michael nodded in agreement. He cocked his head and once again, he examined her facial features. He brought up a shaky hand and placed it on her cheek. He smiled at her. "I'm glad I met you though."

She blushed and turned her head away from his gaze. She knew she shouldn't feel this way about Michael, considering her husband was killed recently, but she couldn't help it. "I'm so glad I met you, too!" She said turning back to face him.

Michael took both hands and cupped them around her face. He slowly allowed his face to come closer to hers. Both of their eyes closed as their lips brushed together.

Ana wrapped her arms around Michael as the kiss became more passionate. The five minute long kiss was finally interrupted when they heard three gunshots.

Bang.

Bang.

Bang.

Michael and Ana darted down the mall in attempts of finding out who had been shot. They followed Terry and Nicole into the room they were going in. Andre and Nora both lay on the floor, dead. Andre was holding something small, which turned out to be a zombie, and the zombie baby was immediately killed.

Michael mumbled to Ana, "This is going to be hell trying to escape this." Ana nodded in agreement as they left the store.
