Elena stared at the phone. Tears pricking at her eyes, this just wasn't like him. As a tear gently rolled down her cheek Damon walked up to her. He took her face in his hands and wiped the tear away with his thumb, then he took her in his arms and held her until the sobs died down.

"This is Klaus, Elena. It's not Stefan. It would kill him to see you like this, you know that." Damon cooed the words to her, trying to calm her down whilst stroking her hair.

Then Bonnie burst into the room and bounded over to them, taking Elena from Damon and leading her to the couch. Damon left the room, knowing full well that Bonnie had a huge disliking for him.

"If anyone is qualified to help Elena right now then it's her best friend." He muttered to himself. That's when he heard the front door open, and in walked Caroline Forbes, slightly sniffling herself.

"Where's Elena?" She asked, not really looking at Damon. Her dislike of him was also evident.

"She's through…" But Caroline left half-way through the sentence, obviously hearing for herself. Bonnie had succeeded in stopping Elena's crying but it seemed that she was now very angry. Damon grabbed his jacket and decided to head to the Mystic Grill in town while she calmed down.

Jeremy sat on the couch. Anna and Vickie were dead and yet they were stood right in front of him.

"I don't get it." He said again.

Anna sighed and sat next to him and began, for the sixth time, to explain why they were there.

Matt drove away from the house, shaking the memory from his head. He didn't want to know all this crap! This was ridiculous, Mystic Falls was not a breeding ground for fairy tales.

"God Damnit!" He hit the steering wheel and the pain radiating from his hand brought a moment of clarity. He pulled over to the side of the road and put his head in his hands. This shouldn't be happening, he was supposed to graduate high school and get a scholarship to some sports university, then he was supposed to get married and have a family. His life was supposed to be average. And just for good measure, he hit the steering again and set off back down the road.

Klaus smiled as he watched Stefan drink from the young woman. He had gained himself a very useful ally, but he would have to watch him carefully. One slip-up on his own part and Stefan could be running back to Mystic Falls.

"That's enough now Stefan." He said as the girl started to go limp. As much as he enjoyed the kill, he wanted to keep a low profile… For now at least. "Now compel the girl and let's be off." He sighed, when it came to Stefan it was like being with a child. The boys eyes would light up whenever blood was even mentioned and you had to talk him through every step. But soon Klaus would have him geared up to be the killing machine he'd heard of.

"Do you have any rooms spare?" Katherine asked the boy behind the counter, batting her eyelashes. She would only stay in America for a few days, until she find herself a plane ticket, and then she would flee to Europe. Maybe she'd visit her parents' graves. She shook her head, Klaus would expect her to do that and now that she wasn't useful anymore her torture would commence.

"Ma'am?" The boy behind the counter looked at her, waiting for an answer.

"Sure" She said, not quite sure what she'd just agreed to but she was growing too hungry to care. At the thought of food her fangs elongated and she had a hard time calming herself down.

She grabbed her keys from the boy and ran to her room, thank goodness the key had the room number on it, and she didn't want to create a scene by ripping out that boy's throat in the lobby. Once in the quite hallway she found herself a rather good looking business man and decided to have some lunch.
