Marissa sat starring at the invitation she had just received in the mail. She knew what it was the minute she saw the return address. Summer had warned her but she didn't want to believe the truth. Ryan was getting married!
As she opened the crisp white paper a sense of sadness and dread washed over her. It was only a few months ago that she and Ryan were talking about their own wedding. Tears begain to hit the card as she caught glimpses of her despair.

She couldn't read anymore. She couldn't see because of all the tears in her eyes. She fell on the couch sobbing. What happened to us she thought. Ryan doesn't even know what happened to me.
Ryan looked up at the class, grinning. "Quiz on Monday, so be sure to review Chapters 12-14. Oh, have a nice weekend too."
The students grumbled as they filed out the door. Ryan smiled when he thought of his days as a college student. He was happier being the teacher then the student. He loved his job teaching architecture at Newport Jr. College. He had thought of working for a big architect firm, but realized that he could always do that in the future. Right now helping others felt more rewarding to him. He was startled out of his thought when he heard his cell phone ring.
"Hello?"
"Ryan! When are you leaving school so we can work on our wedding plans? I told you I needed you here by 5PM sharp! The caterers won't wait!" whined Nicole.
"No problem Nicky-I'm leaving now. Should I meet you there?"
Nicole pouted some more. She was used to having her way with everything, especially Ryan.
"You promised to pick me up, remember? I'll be waiting at home."
Ryan flipped his phone closed and paused. His stomach felt queasy. He was going to marry this woman. He loved her, right? Then he thought of Marissa. He wondered if he should've sent her an invitation to the wedding. Nicole had insisted. She was sure that this was the final break that would be the best for them. Ryan wasn't so sure…………
