A/N: This is a little drabble about the uniform of the NYPD. I wasn't sure where to put this so I thought it belong here. I did a little research on the fly about the NYPD today that may be put into an actual Blue Bloods story. This came to me and I wrote it in two minutes. Please R&R.

The dark blue of the uniform stands out against the grey of the city. It shows who you can go to. For every 148 people there is one, whose job is to protect the lives of others. They are all normal people who chose to follow the call to help people. For one family it is their lives. They choose to give their lives to the city and her people. They put their lives on the line for people they don't know because it is their job. Of the 35,000 there are three, who know better than anyone what it is like to lose a cop. What it is like to lose someone you love. Each day, they are grateful that they are coming home to their family. In a city of grey, the blue of the uniform is what matters.
