A Winter Day: Prologue

It was mid-winter. The snow was falling gracefully from the sky the ground was covered in a delicate blanket. Of the time that they had been together, Kagome and Inuyasha had never had a pure moment in time were they had just stopped and listened to what the other had to say,

"So," Kagome began, "Where do we go from here?" Recently, about a month ago, Kikyo had been brought back to life. Everyone was astonished and pushed to find out why. Each time they came up with the same answer: Kikyo had changed her ways and wanted to help destroy Naraku.

Kami knew she didn't want her to but Kagome, like the rest of the group, embraced the fact that Kikyo wanted a change in how she presented herself. So in turn, Kikyo had been traveling with Inuyasha and Co. for about two weeks. Both Inuyasha and Kagome had excused themselves from Kaede's Hut in order to have the conversation that they were having at the moment. He was walking her back to the well in order to visit her family,

"I'm not sure. I'm torn. My loyalties towards you will never leave Kagome but, I find myself yearning for Kikyo's touch." Inuyasha replied.

How fortunate! Inuyasha had just spilled that he loved Kikyo. Kagome's eyes started to water, 'Come on girl! You can pull through this I know it. Just take a deep breath in and then a deep breath out'. She was trying not to cry but it was so hard. She then knew the meanings of a true heartbreak, 'It hurts' she whimpered in her mind,

"What should I do Kagome?"

What could he do! She didn't reply. She couldn't. Of course she would attempt to make him lean more towards her for love but it wasn't right. Kagome Higurashi is always nice, is always considerate, and she always puts the needs of other's before her. Looking at the sky for some type of answer, Kagome took a breath followed by a sigh,

" Just follow your heart Inuyasha. That is all I can tell you." With that said Kagome continued her way to the well by herself. Streams of tears began to fall down her rosy porcelain checks. She sat at the edge of the welland began to think, 'I'll be back when I'm sure of what I want'. She then fell backwards, heading home to get some much-needed rest and to talk with her mother.
