Great Mouths Talk Alike
Edward and Alphonse Elric entered a local bar in Resembool, exhausted after a day's work in Central. Still, no sigh of the philosopher's stone and the homunculi were making it worse for their travels.
"What a day," Edward said, relieved to be done for the night. He and Al sat down on a stool facing the bartender who was about to serve them.
"What can I get you two?"
"Oh nothing for me," Alphonse said.
"A drink of water please," Edward said.
"All right, one drink coming right up!" the bartender said, getting a cup and pouring water into it. "That'll be 1 dollar please."
"Thanks." Ed gave the bartender a dollar.
Alphonse sighed. "Are we ever going to find the stone? I mean, it seems every time we get close something comes in our way."
"We will, Al. I promise," Ed assured.
Alphonse hoped so. They had been doing this for three years. He just wanted his body back and Ed to get his arm and leg returned. Whining about it wouldn't help their troubles though.
Suddenly, he heard a high-pitched voice in the back. He turned his steel-for body and saw Mei Chang standing there with Scar. He immediately reacted by jumping off his seat and pointing to her. Last time they met, they got into a huge argument about who was going to fight the Homunculi. Well, Mei wanted to help and that made Alphonse tell her not to barge in. That was a mistake.
"Mei?" Alphonse said.
Mei's eyes flashed at the tall steel person. "Alphonse!" Mei exclaimed.
At the same time, they said to each other, "What are you doing here? You're too young to be in a bar!"
Ed, took time to watch his brother and Mei shout at each other. It was weird, because they said the exact same thing at the same time.
"I thought---" they both shouted. Then stopped to think. "You said you were---" Then stopped again. "I can't believe you are here!"
"What's going on?" Ed asked them. "is your girlfriend arguing with you again, Al?" He then added a laugh at the end, making Alphonse and Mei even angrier.
"We are NOT together!" they both exclaimed.
Ed smirked.
"WHAT'S WITH THE SMIRK?" Realizing the other were speaking at the same time, they turned to each other. "WHY ARE YOU COPYING ME EVERY WORD FOR WORD?"
Out of nowhere, the bar's doors opened. Standing there were Roy Mustang and Maes Hughes. Edward smacked his own forehead and sighed. Those two were going to be the end of him one day. They just ruined his rest of the night.
"Oh what do we have here? Edward, Alphonse, Mei and Scar!" Roy Mustang said. "What a relief I thought I was going to have to talk to Hughes all by myself!"
"You say that as if it's a bad thing," Hughes muttered. They sat down beside Edward and Scar, who were watching Mei and Alphonse argue.
"I'm not copying you! You are copying ME! See? There you go again!" Alphonse and Mei argued. Edward was bewildered by how two people could say the exact same things without practicing first.
"You are so---" they both began to say, but then shook their heads and stopped. Alphonse turned to Edward who had enough of arguing with Mei. Mei turned to Scar, ready to punch Alphonse in the metal gut. Really, they hadn't gotten over the argument they both had three days ago, and probably wouldn't make up just yet. "I'M LEAVING!"
Alphonse and Mei both stomped out the door, furious at each other. Mei kicked Alphonse and ran away as soon as she opened the door. Alphonse was not known for getting angry, but he was surprised and mad at her for doing that, so he chased her.
"Wow," Roy mustang said. "They… are quite a couple…"
"You know," Hughes piped up. "It's said that that those who say the exact same thing at the exact same time are considered soul mates."
Mustang and Edward blinked at Hughes. Both of them opened their mouths at the same time, "Oh really?"
The end.
