Just a quick babble =P
The loud splash had sounded in the dead of night, breaking the silence and before long a second happened. Within moments there was a worried and panicked woman on the edge of the bridge. Her cold hands gripping the even colder metal. Tears were already falling down her face like a depressing waterfall. Her eyes sparkled in the night light, the salty tears stung her eyes and she searched the waters below for the woman she loved, she didn't look for the man who had jumped before Jane. She just looked for Jane.
"Jane!", she screamed at the top of her lungs yet again, "Jane!"
"How could she do this?", the young woman thought, "How could she jump into the water? What an earth was she thinking?". She growled in frustration at herself, the only woman remaining on the bridge, "Jane!" she screamed again.
Her right hand brushed away some of the salty tracks that had made their way down her cheek bones, taking traces of her make up with them and left marks on her soft cheeks. "Jane!", her voice echoed slightly in the darkness of the night, her desperation evident in the screams she emitted. Her voice the only sound. Jane's name was the only sound. Again and again. The water could be heard softly in the background but the sound of Maura's voice drowned it out. The screams of a woman whose loved one was gone.
The woman on the bridge broke down, as she collapsed to the floor, her legs giving way. How jump when they had only just confessed their true feelings for one another? How could she leave her on the bridge in the dark? How could she choose that man over her?
It had been only 3 minutes since the sound of the splash had filled the ears of anyone nearby, three minutes that had lasted much longer in the mind and heart of the medical examiner.
After calling it in, she continued to scream at the top of her lungs for the woman she loved. The sound of Jane's name filled the air and every time she would call she would wait for a response. She didn't get one. Not until Korsak came up behind her to get her down from the edge, reminding her that Jane could swim and she was a strong woman.
Maura found herself wishing that she could swim so that she could have gone in after her, or that she had been closer to stop her.
The beautiful medical examiner with honey blonde dyed hair and designer clothes stood on the edge with tears on her cheeks, red puffy eyes from crying and her voice breaking as she called for the woman she loved.
She would be a nervous wreck until her lover was found safe.
