The sun was setting at the public park of Royal Woods, when a quartet of girls were preparing a game of baseball. These girls were Haiku, Giggles, Tabby and Polly Pain, the former two sitting at the bench while the latter two were at the field.
"Ladies and... Well, just Ladies! Welcome to the yearly Sadie Hawkins Reunion Game!" Giggles excitedly announced while Haiku gently clapped. "Today, we have Polly Pain versus Tabby in a game of baseball! Who will win this amazing game, and who will drop the ball? Hehehe!"
"My money's on Polly," Haiku casually answered. "She is the only one of us who's tried sports before, after all."
"Well, I bet Tabby's going to rock her socks off, if you know what I mean," Giggles replied, causing Haiku to roll her eyes in exasperation as she laughed.
Meanwhile, Tabby and Polly were a little less friendly to each other; Polly held the position of batter and waited with a stern frown as Tabby, being the pitcher, got ready to throw the ball. "Are you going to throw that thing or-!?"
Then, without warning, Tabby threw the ball, which Polly narrowly missed. "Strike one!" Tabby shouted in joy.
"I-I wasn't ready!" Polly whined, stomping the ground. "You little cheater, you took the chance while I was talking to throw the ball!"
"Yeah, whatever, a game is a game, you got to stay focused at all times," Tabby replied as Haiku grabbed and threw the ball back at her, which she catched as the duo prepared for the next shot. "Anyway, ready for the next shot?"
"Absolutely!" Polly exclaimed, tightly gripping her baseball bat-
"Hey look, Rusty Spokes!" Tabby shouted, pointing at a random direction.
And of course, Polly just had to fall for the trap. "Where?!"
Surprisingly enough, Rusty really was around, waving hello at the game with a big wide smile. Polly returned both the wave and the smile as Tabby threw the ball, signalling the second strike as Rusty left and Polly returned to the game.
"He's such a nice guy!" Polly remarked, before her smile turned into an annoyed frown. "You threw the ball while I was distracted, didn't you?"
"Maaaay-be?" Tabby jokingly said, flinching at the sight of Polly baring her teeth. "Fine, alright, I'll do this fair and square this time."
So Polly gripped her baseball bat hard enough to crack it a little, then swung it as hard as she could once Tabby threw the ball. The ensuing clash was strong enough to not only send the ball out of the field and into a homerun, but also made it go all the way to the entrance of the park, where it crashed into a car. And the vehicle's alarms blared, the girls exchanged looks before running away as fast as they could.
"Okay, note to self, do the next yearly game in a place that has no cars nearby!" Polly remarked.
"Yeah, 'cause that's the main issue," Haiku remarked, rolling her eyes.
