Please don't sue me, I do not own any of the characters used here. This was made in response to the HMS Leather and Libraries Shipper overboard contest.
How the hell did we wind up like this?
Why weren't we able, to see the signs that we missed And try turning the table
Hermione erratically gathered her books to go on to her next class. She tried a few spells to correct her puffy eyes, but they were to no avail. There was no escaping it, she messed up. The fights had been building up lately but she didn't prepare for the blowup that happened that morning.
I wish you'd unclench your fists, and unpack your suitcase
Lately there's been too much of this But don't think it's too late
Draco was livid. He should have noticed sooner, the extended prefect meetings, midnight rendezvous'. He couldn't handle the secrets, lies and excuses. It started with a few simple shuns.
Nothing's wrong, just as long as You know that someday I will
Someday, somehow I'm gonna make it all right but not right now I know you're wondering when
(You're the only one who knows that) Someday, somehow I'm gonna make it all right but not right now I know you're wondering when
She could only try as hard as she could to explain all the events of the past few months. Draco stared at Hermione vehemently as she sputtered a few words here and there.
"Spit it out already!"
"I am acting in a 'special' play ", she blurted out too quickly, "I am just trying to fit into my role better". With a shrug Hermione walked to the other edge of the room.
How the hell did we wind up like this? Why weren't we able, to see the signs that we missed And try to turn the tables
Draco looked to Hermione's pacing figure. He saw the nervous manner in which she looked at her watch.
"That's it!! I am not taking this bullshit from you anymore, stop your lying, stop the drama, and just stop the bullshit... Who is he??" Draco was now dangerously close to her.
"There's nobody I swear", she avoided his eyes.
"You are lying"
"Well you wouldn't understand, I can't tell you now, you will find out sometime," Hermione looked at her watch again.
He walked to the other end of the room and felt his temples twitch in anger.
Now the story's played out like this Just like a paperback novel
Let's rewrite an ending that fits Instead of a Hollywood horror
They avoided each other for a week, no owls, nothing. He walked into the dungeons for a well deserved detention for cheeking Filch.
He heard a movement in the dark room and pulled his wand.
"SURPRISE!!!"
Draco jumped back 6 feet as sparks from at least 3 dozen wands lit up the moldy room. He looked around at a few recognizable faces as realized he had indeed forgotten his own birthday. He staked out Hermione who was holding a delicious looking cake.
"I told you I would make it up to you", she smiled at him as he still held his bewildered look.
"I am so thick, how could I have never seen the signs, which would explain the hoarding of things from the kitchens!" He gave her a huge hug, "I'm sorry, thank you"
"I should be apologizing", she said looking down.
"Why?"
"For this!" no sooner had the words left her lips, Draco's face was greeted with a large piece of cake.
