Title: The Seductress and the Temptress
Summary: Oneshot. Jenny vents about how much she hates Hollis and wants Jethro back.
Disclaimer: I don't own NCIS, dammit.
A/N: I'm supposed to be writing a "Word Connotation" essay for my AP English class… The words "Temptress" and "Seductress" got stuck in my head, and I was obsessing about NCIS, so this fic was born. Hm. Maybe I can hand it in instead of the essay? XD And Jenny's a bit out of character, but I kinda like her like this. I think. lol

I hated her.
At first, I thought maybe we could get along. We'd talked once, months ago, in my office, discussing Jethro over our glasses of bourbon.
But I just didn't like her.
She wasn't his type. Not a red hair on that pretty blonde head of hers. She was strong, sure, but I just could not get over the fact that he somehow found that mannish prick attractive – and worse yet, probably seductive.
Seductive. Now if there was ever a word he'd used to fit me, that was it. He'd called me a seductress in Paris, because I drove him crazy on missions with my "bedroom eyes". I hadn't known I had bedroom eyes until he'd told me.
Hollis Mann did not have bedroom eyes, yet she was with him. I came up with a new title for her. It was a lot less sexy than Seductress, but nevertheless attractive.
Temptress.
In fairy tales, you hear a lot about how the witch was a temptress, leading men to their doom with beguiling false promises. I thought Colonel Mann fit the bill down to a T. Especially the false promises part – Jethro, settle down with her?
I knew I was prejudiced. I loved Jethro, after all, and I didn't want him trapped in a relationship with her. She was just so incredibly wrong for him!
I wanted him back. From the moment he left me in Paris, I wanted him back. I couldn't believe he was still at NCIS when I became Director – that was simply too insane. To see him every day, to remember what had happened –
- And speaking of remembering what had happened, let's go for a moment to the topic of Jethro's amnesia. He thought I was Shannon. He remembered us making love. He did not say, "Jen, send for my blonde bride-to-be so that we can make sweet love in the once-fertile pastures of my mind." HE REMEMBERED ME.
I was touched. But again, he's not with me. He's with Colonel Hollis Mann, the Temptress, the beguiling fairy-tale witch.
But if she's the witch, that makes Jethro the misguided man. And the misguided man always falls back on the right path to True Love…
The Seductress.
