Forgiveness.
He stormed into the room, his eyes narrowing upon seeing her slumped on his sofa, head in hands with her shoulders shaking. He felt a twinge of guilt and his face softened, before he remembered what had happened. His jaw tensed as he walked further in. She must have heard him coming, as she leapt off of the sofa; backing away hurriedly whilst holding her ands up in a 'surrender' gesture. Her eyes were moving around the room frantically, and she could sense the anger radiating off of his body. He crept closer, but stopped a few feet away, surveying her – as if she were to be his next meal.
"Why?" his voice was a mere whisper, yet she could hear the forced calmness of his tone; the tension in his voice as he struggled to maintain his composure.
"I – I don't –" she shook off her pride, and cowered away from him slightly. Then, she took a deep breath, head lowering to the floor slightly. "I don't know who did it, but it wasn't me!"
"Don't give me that crap. You know exactly what you did!" she slumped her shoulders in defeat.
"I'm sorry." His surprise was evident on his face. Her tone was so dejected. He had never expected her to break down so easily. It was one of the things he loved about her. He took another step towards her cautiously, hoping to evoke the fiery reaction that he was expecting. She just continued to speak in a small voice, the words barely making it past her lips. "I – I just –" a lone tear crept down her face. "I just wasn't thinking. I'm so sorry."
He stepped towards her and raised his arm to place it on her shoulder. As he raised it up, she flinched away, before ducking under it and running to another corner of the room. He frowned. She could almost see the cogs whirring away in his head, trying to figure out why she moved away.
His eyes widened as he realised why.
"Gods – I – Pansy! You don't think I'd – I'd never!" she watched patiently as he spluttered in disbelief. He leapt over the sofa to reach her, and gathered her in his arms before she realised what she was doing.
"Harry, what are you –?" he placed a finger on her lips, silencing her.
"Shh Pansy. I would never hit you. Never. Do you understand?" he looked at her and she nodded slowly. "Oh, and it's okay. I forgive you. Just don't do it again, okay?" He waited for the affirmative.
And then he kissed her.
