Freddy Krueger meets Big Bird

By Shadowgate

…...

The word had come down that Freddy Krueger would be visiting Sesame Street. Some kids and muppets were scared but most were excited. Many grownups were outraged over this controversial visit but the visit would still go on.

Freddy continued on saying hi to all the children and he met Big Bird. When he came upon Big Bird's nest he said "hello Big Bird I'll bet you can indeed guess who I am."

Big Bird replied "I know you're Freddy Krueger and I don't mean to sound rude but you are scary looking."

Freddy said "yes I am aren't I. Hey tell you what I have a neat suggestion about what you can do today and I know you'd be proud of yourself if you took my exciting suggestion."

Big Bird replied "well what suggestion do you have and I'll tell on you if you suggest I do something bad, I'm warning you."

Freddy said "my suggestion is that you be as brave as you can and spend time talking to me. I think you're braver than you give yourself credit for."

Big Bird said "hmm."

Freddy asked Big Bird if he knew what the word credit meant and Big Bird guessed "it means recognizing something for what they've done."

Freddy said "very good Big Bird you're a smart bird indeed."

Big Bird felt as sense of pride and he said "sure I am."

Freddy stated "the reason I look so scary is because I was involved in a fire. Some people set me on fire."

Big Bird said "oh well that's just awful. What on earth made them want to be so mean? Were they just always bad and mean?"

Freddy said "well I don't want to make you worry about the reasons they did it. Let's instead focus on the dangers of fire so we can have a lesson to learn from."

Freddy states "fire is used for cooking. Sometimes they'll used it on purpose to get rid of an old building with the supervision of firemen. Sometimes people use it to burn leaves in their backyard. That's okay because it's their private property and he's a grown up. If children are going to use a fire such as when camping the camp counselors are to supervise them."

Big Bird said "hey Freddy you don't seem so bad after all."

Freddy said "well thank you Big Bird and let it be known that fire should never be used for fun. Let's say Billy's Grandma is visiting and she's upstairs taking a nap. Billy thinks it would be a fun prank to get the jug of gasoline from his parents garage and throw it on her along with a match. So he does it and sets his grandma on fire."

Big Bird said "that's not a fun prank that's a very mean thing to do his grandma and even if he's a kid he could still be locked up somewhere for doing that. That's a horrible crime."

Freddy said "yes Big Bird that's a horrible crime and there's no arguing that. However some would argue that your pals Burt and Ernie living together is a crime because they're not man and woman."

Big Bird asked "how does one of them not being a woman make it wrong for them to live together?"

Freddy answered "watch out for mean grownups that will tell you it is because they're telling you things that aren't true just to make you miserable."

Big Bird said "I'll watch out for those kind of grownups Freddy. You sure know lots about bad grown ups Freddy so I'm glad you're teaching me this stuff. Oh if a grown up ever tells me Burt and Ernie are bad because they live together my feathers would be so ruffled."

Freddy said "hi five and I'll hold my hands straight up so my claws won't get you."

Freddy held his hands straight up and Big Bird gave him a hi five. Freddy said "well you were big and brave to spend time talking with me and I knew you could do it. Big birds are known for bravery, take eagles for example. They're the bravest of all."

Big Bird said "yes."

Freddy said "this episode has been brought to you by the letter K because K is Krueger. Good night everyone."
