Rated T for the mild language.
Great. Just great. This was exactly what he needed.
What the hell had she been doing in Gotham anyway? She was Diana's enemy, not his.
An enemy of Diana's is an enemy of yours, a small voice in the back of his head reminded him.
He ignored it. He needed to figure out where the witch went and why she was in his city. Maybe he could convince her to get him back to normal, or as close to normal as he ever was.
As he raced down the street, he silently cursed. Cursed her, cursed his now short legs, cursed the latest mission he was, until just recently apparently, involved in, cursed his new predicament.
He didn't have time for this. The Riddler was still out there, on the run, and he was stuck like, like... this!
He really didn't have time for this.
He ran past the clock in the middle of the square, figuring that nobody would recognize him and not really caring if anyone who happened to be out at this time happened to see him.
He glanced up at that thought, barely able to make out the two hands on the clock that now towered over him more than ever before. Just past 2 am.
Sighing, he took one last glance around, hoping to catch a glimpse of her hair, with no such luck. Not that he believed in luck.
More than a little dejected, tired, and angry — which is not a good combination by any stretch of the imagination — he made his way back to the Batcave. On foot. Because heavens knows he can't exactly operate the Batmobile in this state. Hopefully he'd make it back before sunrise.
It was after 4 am when he finally dragged himself into the cave. Bringing himself to stand next to the supercomputer lining the wall, he realized there was no way he could reach the keyboard to file a mission log or do research on his current conundrum.
Turning around, he also realized how tired he was, and how much he despised the idea of going up the now entirely too long staircase with gigantic steps right now.
With a sigh of reluctance and a lack of any other somewhat tolerable action, Bruce decided he would just sleep in the cave.
He curled up next to the computer, drawn to it by the warmth it was emitting, even when not actively being used. Unsurprisingly, the warmth of the machine quickly plunged him into unconsciousness. I'll figure out how to deal with this tomorrow, he thought as he drifted off to sleep.
A/N: Okay, so it's short, but it's just a prologue. Besides, I've only written a few, never completed multi chapter fanfics which were later deleted. That was a while ago. So, I'm a little out of practice in writing long stories with long chapters. I'll try to make them longer as we go, but no promises. I will do my best.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this, seeing as this is my first ever fanfic loaded on here. Feedback is welcome, although if it is negative in nature, I ask that you make sure to provide tips and suggestions that I may use to improve my writing rather than just saying you don't like it. I'm not perfect, and I will never be, but I try my best to improve, and any help you guys have to offer will be appreciated.
Wow, that was long. Okay, bye!
